Yep. Which is why I need to find a US site where I can preorder one that'll ship to the UK Does anyone buy games or anything and import them? I can't find any sites that are selling it...
I had no idea consoles would reach this level of price-gayness.
I was thinking $350 maximum.(US)
Why the fuck don't they just sell a core box with the special graphics shit (Super-bus and chips) and tv outputs then let people upgrade with PC components?
(You'd have to bundle some to get people started, of course.)
$600 US for the good one? Is the $500 one upgradeable to the better standard?
Buy a brand new fucking PC for that much, then upgrade from there.

The $500 one has an upgradable hard drive but I think that's it. The 3 things you get from the $600 one include a built in flash card reader, built in wi-fi, and an HDMI port, which while all nice isn't exactly neccesary.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

It's also interesting to note that while the $600 model has the HDMI port, it doesn't come with the HDMI cable, which apparently costs some $100 on its own. Now, I could give a shit since my TVs are from the 80s and I'm not getting a PS3 anyways, but I kind of want Sony to fail on this one so that Blu-Ray fails and we're not stuck with a shitty Sony dominated format for a decade or so.
It took DVDs like 3-4 years to become the standard, which is pretty fast considering VHS was the standard for a million years. Though the DVD was a pretty big step up from the VHS, Blue Ray and HD DVD are just a small step that isn't essential now.
