Not really. Alcohol is a depressant, caffeine is a stimulant...so it's a wash in terms of physical effects, and it tastes like plain old Red Bull. People need to stop adding vodka to everything and calling it a drink.PiP wrote:I hear it enhances the effect of both vodka and red bull, so combined it rocks.

Ah that's why I was confused. I did that era during my history A-Level ~~Wikipedia wrote:It subsequently became a possession of the Bohemian crown under the Holy Roman Empire in the 14th century, and passed with that crown to the Habsburg Monarchy of Austria in 1526

if it were just a 'wash', they wouldnt put 'Warning! do not mix with alcohol!' on the label you freaking idiot. Stop talking through your arse if you don't know shit about the matter.Subhuman wrote:Not really. three seemingly healthy people in Sweden died shortly after drinking Red Bull, officials launched an investigation into the drink's ingredients and effects. Two of the victims died after drinking Red Bull with vodka

Do you even read your own links?

This is called binging. One can of Red Bull mixed with one or two shots of vodka won't send you to the hospital, and the caffeine effects will clash with the depressant effect of the alcohol - it's basic food chemistry. You'll get a caffeine buzz, but the alcohol will likely cloud it. Plus, it just seems like a waste of expensive ingredients.Sophomore Theresa Sparrow, 19, passed out in a sorority house after drinking four shots of vodka and two cans of Red Bull.
PiP, thanks for the links. Goodness...
Are there any Germans left in Silesia? I'd doubt it, personally, and I couldn't see Polish speaking Poles really, ardently wanting to split the motherland. It would be different I think if we were talking about, say, the disparity between northern and souhern Italy, which seems to still be a real problem there, but yeah, Poland, fracturing? He probably went to Dalmatia or something and he's some kind of expatriate, closeted Croat.
Croats rock, though...

we haven't been takling about ANY particular quantity, hello? And don't tell me about the effects of 1 such drink, since I drank 2 at one party plus some more alcohol, which is roughly the amount you quote as responsible for passing out, so I have my own experience.Subhuman wrote: One can of Red Bull mixed with one or two shots of vodka won't send you to the hospital,.
In the Polish part of Silesia there is a German minority; they even have a 2-member representation in our parilament. Also I bet there are Germans in the (small) German part of Silesia..box wrote:Are there any Germans left in Silesia?

And two cans of Bull? Consumed in a short period of time, that qualifies, particularly if they were large shots.Franz wrote:She had 4 shots of alcohol... that's not very much.
Enlighten me, then. Alcohol is a depressant, yes? And caffeine is a stimulant. Combine the two, such as Red Bull with vodka, and you have at best a dampened caffeine effect. I speak from experience, but if you want to prove me wrong, go ahead.I think you don't understand how drugs work.
Hello, yes we have? We started off talking about the popular drink of vodka and Red Bull, which is one can of Bull with a few shots of vodka.PiP wrote:we haven't been takling about ANY particular quantity, hello?

Okay.PiP wrote:don't tell me about the effects of 1 such drink

Also, I never said vodka and Red Bull doesn't give you a buzz, I said a) it tastes like crap and b) the effect you get, in my experience, doesn't add up to a decent caffeine buzz, so it's a waste of time.
Y'all are giving me a headache.
deadnutt - guarana is just a common plant which contains caffeine.
and i am not the drug guru i once was, but i can tell you that mixing caffeine with alcohol will give you something more complex than a 'dampened caffeine effect'. they don't just cancel each other out. if anything, the caffeine should intensify the drunken feeling (a less lethargic drunk feeling, perhaps?), rather than neutralize it. caffeine ups your metabolism, perpetuating the effects of alcohol much faster... something like that.
but red bull, like most energy drinks, doesn't have much caffeine so it won't make much of a difference anyway? energy drinks never give much of a buzz to begin with (they are about as potent as a cup of tea), so you'd barely notice it when you're drunk.
if you don't believe me, though, go do a bunch of coke, or just take some shots of espresso or something, and then drink about 10 promiscuous girls. you will have a blast.

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Ehh, the Promiscuous Girl was a failed experiment. I've got a better one now - classy, even.
Bitter Frenchman
2 oz Alize Gold Passion liqueur
1 oz Cointreau
2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a red grape skewered on a toothpick.
Bitters are a wonderful thing, it turns out. I bought a bottle on a whim and I've used it in sauces and soups as well as drinks. Adds another dimension of herbal-ish flavor, and Angostura is slightly citrus, so it goes well with the orange Cointreau and passionfruit Alize.

'Bourbon and a branch' variant: Maker's and whole milk. Sort of a modified cowboy, sometimes with shots of good stuff instead of sips. Considering no straight man in Buffalo orders a Cowboy at a bar, I'm pretty much confined to my house with this one. But, it makes a great dessert.
Besides spring water from this one cave in Vermont, Maker's Mark is the finest fluid to ever cleanse the palate. It's marvelous, in every way.
And I've found, as someone who drives a lot, that Red Bull doesn't do all that much more than a big cup of black coffee, especially with the espresso shot. And like Jell-o shots, mixing Red Bull and Absolut is the kind of thing mothers warn their teen daughters not to do on a Friday night. Maybe they're onto something, aside from the mouthtube for some gastric lavage action...

not exactly, the energy-drink effect masks the alcohol effect, so you think you don't get it while you do. Among other things like 'extreme dehydration'atoga wrote:anything, the caffeine should intensify the drunken feeling (a less lethargic drunk feeling, perhaps?), rather than neutralize it. caffeine ups your metabolism, perpetuating the effects of alcohol much faster... something like that.
first off, a decent energy drink doesn't only have caffeine (of which they contain as much as a cup of coffee), but taurine (without which 'energy drinks' would be but a hoax) and sometimes other extra stuff like L-carnitine, which enhances fat metabolism and hence energy production.but red bull, like most energy drinks, doesn't have much caffeine so it won't make much of a difference anyway?
ye I've always felt they hardly work on me, but I thought it's because I used to do stronger stuffenergy drinks never give much of a buzz to begin with
