HellMOO (Post-apocalyptic comedy/horror MUD)
HellMOO (Post-apocalyptic comedy/horror MUD)
telnet: hell.game-host.org port 7777
web: http://hell.game-host.org/
There was a time when you were young. You ran through green fields, played in the houses of your friends, had milk and cookies in your mother's weed. Then, one day out of the clear blue sky, atomic fire came and burned your old life away. Before you even knew why, before you could even pick through the smoking rubble of your life, bury the scorched bones of your family, the fighting began. Survivor turned on survivor, a desperate struggle for food and water in the blackened ruins. Life became a battle of moments, lived day to day, a stolen can of food here, a knife fight there. You discovered something within yourself, a hidden reserve of willpower that refused to let you sit down in the desert and die. As you wandered, small towns began to struggle upright out of the ashes of the old world. Some, blessed by a convergence of population and resources, grew larger, developing self-sustaining economies, even corporations and technologies. Gleaming steel in the great quiet dark of the desert, they offer a moment of respite from your wanderings. But everywhere the desert remains, a sea of sand and bones. It is hungry, and it is patient. The survivor in you knows it is only a matter of time before you must face it again.
HellMOO is a post-apocalyptic hellscape role-playing game. Imagine a city filled with people who have nothing to lose, most of whom would murder you given the chance. Now imagine that they're starving, irradiated, and angry. Add to that hideous, unthinkable abominations that are the product of irresponsible genetics research and generations of radiation poisoning and pollution. Now imagine that multinational corporations are the only organizations cutthroat enough to have come out of the collapse of civilization with any real collective power, and that there are now no restrictions on them using that power however they like.
There are so many ways to die here, and thanks to the corporations' technology, you can keep coming back and experience each and every one of them. Not even suicide can get you out of hell.
I'm an admin on HellMOO, which has been in development for three years now and is ready for players.
Features:
* Overhead mini-map
* Well-developed player and NPC economy with crafting and shops
* A large number of helpful admins who are available most of the time
* Sex (whore yourself out to NPCs or players for cash, or just screw someone for quick healing after a fight), drugs (buy, sell, and use them) and rock & roll (we have a streaming radio station controlled by an in-game DJ bot)
* Communicable diseases
* Pregnancy and abortion
* Gambling
* Gang/corporate warfare
* A variety of weapons, from makeshift clubs to guns, hand grenades and nuclear missiles
* Hacking and implants
* Aircraft with air-to-air and air-to-ground weaponry
* Scientologists
* Terrorists
* Pirates
* Zombies
* Ninjas
How to connect:
I recommend a good MUD client that supports ANSI color, though plain telnet should work. I use SimpleMU (http://simplemu.onlineroleplay.com/). There is also a Java web client at http://hell.game-host.org/charon/ but you'll need to create your character before you can use it.
Creating a character:
The first time you connect, type request player_name for email_address and you'll be emailed a password. Then type connect name password to join the game and create your character.
The first time you connect, you'll be put into the character generation area. This is a flashback to just before the bomb was dropped, and is not connected to the regular game area. It can be confusing at first, as you may "die" several times in nuclear fire, but don't worry--these deaths don't matter. This page explains what's going on: http://hell.game-host.org/kaioguide/chargen.html
tl;dr: Just pick up 4 items and find an underground shelter to hide in. If you survive the blast, you find yourself in the city many years later with the skills those items gave you. If you don't survive the blast or want different starting skills, you can start over.
Type who to see who's online. Type page help question here if you need help. look at an object, or exam it to see what you can do with it. Most people go to the nearby orphanage at first and talk to the nun in charge to find out about killing rabid children for profit.

See you in Hell.
Prepare to shit the enemy!
Right now, nukes are very limited. There are two warheads accessible in the game, one underground and one above ground, and because of the chance of nuking the christ out of the main player city, the above-ground silos have a pre-set target. It is also one of the coolest missions in the game, taking you to a Scientologist barracks, a city full of cyborg beatniks, and a desert weapons facility.Dreadnought wrote:The coolest thing is, that you have both, Pirates AND Ninjas.
11/10 litte atoga penises for that one.
But could you explain the NUCLEAR MISSILES a little bit closer? People with enough nukes could technicaly make the game unplayable if they nuke every bigger city or whatever.
For the fascism-loving people in this thread, nazis are not in yet - BUT SOON. The Church of the Holy Crosstika has begun construction on their Slagtown mission, and it's just a matter of time until the communazi survivialists start returning from their bunkers in the mountains. Stuff is constantly being added to the game. I am just now finishing up a high-level char area, a private academy that has been overrun by murderous, rape-machine bikers, exploding pregnant teenagers, and subhumanerds. Expect ultra-risky space travel, trans-dimentional teleportation pod faux pas, and the oppurtunity to travel to the bowels of Hell itself and pound beers with GG Allin in the future.
I support you 100 percent.Koki wrote:MUDs fucking suck, realise this already.
EDIT: Actually, I am wrong, there are nazis. They live on Stormfront Island, amongst the many velociraptors and nazisaurus rex.

It's pretty fitting that you post this movie poster. I think the best way to describe HellMOO is a hundred thousand Troma flicks smashed together into something you can interact with. Assfucking zombies, having plutonioum-rod fights, smoking a bong full of hyperganja and having a stick of dynamite go off in your hand because you forgot you lit it - you can pretty much do anything as long as it's ridiculous.
No big black mommas with big fuck-off revolvers, though. Sorry. The game does need some ridiculous Tromaesque gangsters in it though, with the asymmetrical facepaint and ridiculous costumes. I'll get on that.
