Finns are of the Finno-Ugric race, which, I think originated from Ukraine (before the Slavs moved there).

But as Kashluk wrote, that heritage has been mixed with Lappish, Slavic and, later on, Germanic(Finland-Swedes) and other Western European races. The blonde and blue-eyed aryan physical ideal is a minority here. In fact, there is quite a genetic cocktail in every one of us so if you're looking for racial purity, try an isolated island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.

Lapps are also a Finno-Ugric nation. If Finns are mixed with anything, I'd say that it would be more with Laps and Sami, etc. As far as I know, Finland was quite excluded until recently.
Aryans = Germanic peoples. Finns are not a Germanic nation = not Aryans.

Dear Alexander,

The discussion began at the WW2-era nazi classification. For Germans of that time "Aryan" was anyone who was tall, muscular, preferrably blonde and with blue eyes etc. etc. It was the LOOKS that defined your "race" and "class" back then. It didn't really matter if you were a Russian Jew if you looked like a good ol' Aryan.

The classification of Finns as 2nd class citizens was based on MAINLY political reasons. Finns were needed to fight alonside German troops, German troops were required to respect and rely on Finnish troops and so on. So basically: it didn't have ANYTHING to do with the official, racial biological, "scientific" etc. etc. classification to begin with. It was purely political, required to grease the gears of war and based on how people looked. Ditto. Period. The end of the story.

Another misconception regarding the finns is that they once were vikings... haha...

There have, actually, been a considerable amount of vikings that had Finnish origin.. It goes something like this: 80% were Norwegian, 15% were Swedish and majority of the rest 5 % were Finnish. Due to language and cultural differences Finns were never captains of viking ships or even leaders of "war groups" that skirmished the coast line. They were given an axe and a bag and told: "You kill, ok? Kill and take all shiny. Shiny things. In bag! Got it?"
