Mutants Rising is dead, Fan Made Fallout lives

The Fallout mod that everybody thought sucked anyway has now finally died. Clearly upset by the superiority of <a href="http://www.fanmadefallout.com" target="_self">Fan Made Fallout</a>, several of the MR team members have jumped their sinking, rat-infested ship and joined with the FMF Project. Here's what Wild_Querty had to say about MR's long-expected demise:

SNorth did write up a rather nice news announcement that MR is dead,
but we couldn’t even agree on what to say in that, so here's my take on
it.

Anyway, thanks to all the members of MR who contributed over the last
few years (you know who you are!). Even though we didn’t finish the mod
(we had a buggy demo completed) we had a bloody good time of it, we
made a lot of good friends and learnt a lot about game development,
art, scripting, writing, other peoples countries etc... Though it is
disappointing we never completed MR it was worth all the hard-yaka just
for the good mates we made.

In short, we were far to ambitious and the scripting hamstrung us.

Thanks also to NMA for hosting us in the early days (leaving NMA was
probably the beginning of the end for MR as it cut us off from the FO
community)

Thanks to the developers out there who made the software tools to let
us give modding FO2 a crack (Team-X springs to mind, those guys are
bloody legends!).

A lot of the team is currently hanging out <a target="_blank" href="http://www.hairy-barbarian.com/forum">h ... m/forum</a>
if you want to stop by and spam us (or say hi). A lot of the boys are
still very passionate about game dev, and have a few separate projects
on the cooker.

Finally to anyone else out there thinking of getting into the modding
scene, go for it! It's great fun and you dont need to be a total
computer geck (err geek).

FMF should scrap their work, make an Oblivion mod, and get hired by Beth to make Fallout 3. Dreams can come true.

*sounds of DUL blowing own trumpet and trying to use the dying scraps of another crappy mod to make his look good* Wow that was a detailed sound now wasnt it eh folks?

Finally to anyone else out there thinking of getting into the modding scene, go for it! It's great fun and you dont need to be a total computer geck (err geek).

Requirements include:

* No more sex... ever... you need all your time to the mod... which in the case of anyone who wants to mod anything for "fun" wont be a problem

*Alot of free time... mods take from 4-eternity to complete... yes we are still waiting for your mod DUL... fan made fallout still ant dead... which isnt hard considering it ant lived yet....

*A knowledge in html or scripting.... or the old cave man way of bash it out till it works and if it doesnt work blame the program or the other modders... you know who you are....

*And most of all be arrogant and up yourself about your mod and spend hours agruing its status saying its coming along well... when you could use that time to accually MAKE the fucking mod not bitch about yours or other peoples progress... Cmon people seriously... do some work...

Yeah, well MY mod is even better. I haven't revealed it yet, cuz it's just too good.

I am not into mods any longer, but if I was I would keep pushing for Mutants Rising, clearly the best mod ever attempted in the world.
