rock? would you merit a band on breaking down da barriers, if you like one or two tunes or the full body of shit, talent? I like david bowie, though i wouldnt say hes rock. rolling stones and who have some good licks, but i wouldnt say they're the best ever. velvet underground, king crimson, the doors, t rex? i dunno.

I am 22 atoga and I agree with you about there is no distinction between rock and metal.

They cannot come up with any new stuff that's any good and the old stuff isn't all that great either

you must be right about them making shit music because no one buys there albums.......hang on Korn have gone platinum on every album.

That thing with Blondie and rap is that one thing ( Rapture ) they did kind of as a joke. The reference to "Fab Five Freddy" is just something they put in as a sort of "shout out".

Hip hop/rap elements had been around a long time, with roots in antiquity.
(ok, fine... the modern stuff didn't start until the 70's.)

You could argue that Blondie gave mainstream exposure to rap.
I think that the time-delay without the help of Blondie would have been like a month.

while you're partly right, the appeal to a mass audience - "70 million korn fans can't be wrong! icon_drunk" - is irrelevant to determining something's merit; you do realize that, right? it doesn't necessarily make something shitty, as frater would have you believe (though mass appeal & being shit often go hand in hand, because people are idiots), but it don't make something good, either. i'd call you a tard for bringing it up in the first place, but then you'd probably reply with an equally lame rebuttal.

The only thing that can be taken from the fact that Korn can go platinum is that we need to adopt a more effective form of population control.

everyone can have an opinion or whatever, you just have to be willing to suffer the slings and arrows of defending your shitty music tastes instead of thinking korn is better than floyd or the stones or whatever. shit, if you're going to base your argument on popularity, those 2 bands outweigh them 100% of the 5%. now take 3% of that and you have a hardcore set.
