Well, instead of having some sort of difficulty slider, why not just have options in the menu, enabling/disabling certain options through a little tick? Would be much easier, however, we all know that there is no way in hell that Bethesda will incorporate such a thing.
Has anybody every seen fairies and orcs flying into chunks of red meat? Of course not, however, that is Bethesda's mindframe while undertaking this project (at least in my opinion).

The trouble is, really, that they seem incapable to do anything else even remotely good when doing this 'best'.atoga wrote:(sorta) unrelated, but i thought the series of ncr-vault city-new reno-redding diplomatic quests in fallout 2 (killing raiders, doing stuff for lynette / bishop, etc.) were some of the best in the game, and i think it would be nice if political/diplomat-type characters had more options like this. i agree that lameass fedex quests should be kept to a minimum though.
but that is what bethesda does best.Frater Perdurabo wrote:I... I just don't know what to say...Moron wrote:it'll be huge and open-ended, as that's what Bethesda does best
Open ended and huge wouldn't be all bad if bethsoft managed to include cause and effect, ie: the open endedness should contain a recap video telling us what happened everywhere based oon our actions.
Also, they need interesting NPC's, good dialogues, multisolution quests, and less bloody dungeons.
( Not dungeons that are less bloody, but less 'curse' dungeons than bethsoft usually have.)
But we wont get that, will we.
We'll get a big fucking wasteland filled with stupid dungeons, no dialogues, linear quests, boring characters and todds cock up our arse.
Funny tho how bethesda manage to say "it wont be oblivion with guns" and still everything they say points towards FO3 really being oblivion with guns.
ehue, has anybody ever seen fairies or orcs?Has anybody every seen fairies and orcs flying into chunks of red meat?
I agree on Mr. Teatime on this one. We don't know shit.
Still, I would be very much suprised IF we would be the "last" to know of any new information. Hell, they might not like us. We might not like them, but we ARE the fanbase for Fallout. It's not about liking us, or anything like that, but simply keeping in the loop.
As for it being a console-mongering-magazine...well you never know if they have some internal deals with the paper to be the first served etc. As I said before (quoting Mr. Teatime) we don't have enough info.
If there is new info and we didn't get it first (or at the same time) then...that's some serious disrespect. That's like mooning in your face.

hahahaha it's very liberating to not have any hope or expectations. I can't wait to go cavorting around the wastelands on foot to collect nuclear mushrooms to hoof back to some far off corner of the world map so some asshole can make a [s]magic potion[/s] super drug. The only thing Fallout about it will probably be the Fallout 2 design conventions. Dungeons, Easter eggs, a few familiar faces/places and MORE DUNGEONS! Rat caves, temples of trials, Wanamingo mines, and electrified floor mazes. Lots of those. Maybe combine the electrified floor mazes with mutant rats. Fuck, I can't wait.
and what about the microtransactions? I wonder what we'll be able to expect.
UNLOCK HARDENED POWER ARMOR for 1.99.
TREE GROWING OUT OF HAROLD'S HEAD, 2.99
LUBE FOR THE ASS FUCKING WE'RE GIVING YOU 3.99
ps - GET READY FOR FALLOUT 3 TO BE A 360 EXCLUSIVE.

Who cares? So some console rag got the same shitcake they've been feeding us for years, they drew the same conclusions we did (only to them it's the über-awesome), and suddenly, like you forgot, it's "Oh shit it's Fallout 3 for the consoles!". Big fucking whoop you guys; it's not like we didn't know we were being stepped over for the money crowd.
This place has enough "How to make your very own Fallout game" material to sell as a construction kit. We have even more articulate ramblings of the macabre concerning Beth and/or Friends. Lastly, Teatime has been payed to say that we don't have enough information to make any accurate judgement for well over a year now. I don't know, maybe it's just me here, but let's put a cap on FO3 untill the first, blurry and bloomy screenshot hits the ünterweb before we start grabing our balls anew and crying havoc.

frissy:
Allow me to suggest a [less shining] path to emotional detachment.
http://www.katekretz.com/pgal13.html
Read the title please.
Dwell on the painting if you like, and it's the title that may be of most timely interest.
Now frissy this alleged mooning,
Can you specify the genus species and perhaps the gender of this implied flashing of posteriors?
Was it a blushing red or a baboon blue?
When we gather all the usual suspects for a line up ... I suppose they'll all have to turn tail and drop trousers.
Mister Smiley Face has a well rounded avatar, ...... so pay special attention to the dark side of HIS orbit....
................
Also.
I suggest these are controlled pseudo leaks.
While carrying on routine hand gesturing and schmoozing operations,
individual BS persona that are seen favorably by each diverse, divided, and damned demographic,
chat politely.
Each separate visitation resonates a buzz in those out in the distance , straining to hear any news of FO 3.
A murmur, a whisper will go a long way in the silence.
How much of this conjecture is founded in ''expectation'' may be more constructive a discussion
after all the likely disappointments attached to other ''expectations'' linked to FO 3
are holstered,
safeties on,
and remember if it applies to your side arm, check for chambered rounds too.
Although the comic relief would be much appreciated, shooting one's foot can hardly be misconstrued as a warning shot.

Oh wait, we already knew that.
Deferred Day of Mourning
Deferred Day of Mourning
Killlzig:
In the dawn's early light, I dutifully listened to a comedy cd from that former presidential time zone ...
Firesign Theater's ""Fighting Clowns"".
Sampled some Reagan Era comedy and was reminded how many republican scandals were the public butt of humor. An interesting multi volume encyclopedia would cover the scandals of each Prez from George the Washington to George the Second.
Poor Ollie North was denied the right to carry in his Virginia county because he was a convicted felon, how cruel a fate for THE arms for hostages dealer.

When The Music's Over .....
When The Music's Over .....
In the world of console magazines, Ziff Davis's "Official U.S. Sony Playstation Magazine"" stopped publication this month.
The exclusive Sony content that would have once been available on the included DVD, will now be hence forth only available on line ..... with a PS 3.
Thanks for caring Sony.
Thanks for the support of the PS 2.
Hope you Masters of the Universe, the Sony CEO's can hear anything, since you circled the wagons and left the 'field' to X box and Wii.
Huddle together so you won't freeze in the dark, like my PS 2.
Other computer publications have stopped shipping with a CD. Even the former "Mac Addict'.
They now offer 'free' access to down load web sites.
This further pushes those on dial up to up grade.
Perhaps the last bastion of print will be the sh't house
for that captive audience, sitting in hygienic contemplation.
The days may be numbered for even well heeled print advertising vehicles like this X Box mag.
Correct me on the details: MTV killed the radio star.
The intraweb killed the MTV star.
Broadband intraweb killed the print advertising magazine.

The LP's ?
Not a lot there.
Fit in a small trunk, if you are 'fit' enough to lift the box.
The Firesign Theater of course. ....
Perhaps the mildew hasn't eaten ALL the album sleeves. ..... good hearty Pacific Northwest stock of fungi and mold, perhaps I should donate the sleeves to science or the Defense Department .... never enough WMD's ...
Might be an untouched first Boston LP for the anal collectors, .... safe in it's prophylactic protection ...
hmmmmm.... yah, [*]
I think the 'kid' might want the Sony reel to reel and the old KMPX [San Francisco] FM radio tapes from the ""Under Ground"" era of the late '60's... not many, 8 to a dozen, but still a slice of history. Might have the whole series in a listen-able condition of "Johnny Chase Secret Agent Of Space"' from when I was in range of that other border radio , the CBC.
Some where is the 1984 CBC biography of George Orwell. Lot's of cassette's of 'Brave New Waves' from the early '80's.
The ZBS collection, well that might go to the Cat Lady .... and her Witch Sisters.
hmmmmm.... yah [*]
The LP's are in the south bay of the garage, archived in a reinforced melon crate.
Shame you couldn't put a lean on those old girlfriends and / or ex's that have long held my vinyl hostage, (sniff, crocodile tear).
If you set a 30 yard dumpster you can glean through the boxes in the loft and in the north bay, oh and the basement.
C 64, Amiga-s, DOS era games, and a cute little SE/30 with 20 megs, an entire gig of scsi hard drive and the cutest little 9 inch B + W screen, just perfect for reliving ' Cosmic Osmo'.
Captain Pater and the step mom would appreciate, and possibly compensate, your humanitarian and Herculean labors.
PS.
I'll be sure to leave a trail of pizza crust crumbs, lime peels, and empty Tequila bottles, just in case you want to go the 'other way'.
.............
[*][with unusual provisions and spiteful conditions (for the sake of a cliched dramatic touch), cash settlement and a future draft pick to be negotiated .... later].

Old? My little brother, I guess the pick of the litter in learning what NOT to do in college, just retired from the Reserves a Lt. Col. He never got the ticket punched with that special over seas command, to cash out as a full Col., but he never lost seniority in his R+ D 'day job'. And, his wife and kids have always liked having him around the house.Oh, sweet, you're old. When you die can I have your records?

where are the whorehouses? where's the gratuitous swearing and violence? where are the monty python and star trek references? where's bettie page? where are the community and designer in-jokes?
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
