More on Fallout 3 and the 360
As for a profitable product not always being a good product, well that's a point of view. For any company that's a GOOD product. As fof a consumer, well could be the crappiest.
I do understand why Bethesda would follow the way they have things done this far, because they know how. Published, profitable and somewhat "good" games are hellawa lot better than canned ones.
What they do best.
Though, i'm still in some belief that it's possible to create a rpg-game that has a similar gameplay to any platform. Xbox's are computers, and much more than any other console. In a normal rpg you only need the mouse and a few key's to make it really playable. Well console controlles have that. Of course this has nothing to do with Bethesda, but I was just making a point that the platform itself isn't a problems, it's just the people who bought it and what they like (moronic games).

Though not very good ones.Xbox's are computers
Partly they are though since xbox has much more limited hardware than a good gaming pc.platform itself isn't a problems
Also, I'm beginning to suspect that the xbox games construction set which companies has to buy from microsoft to make games somehow steer the feel of a game in a certain direction.
Every bloody xbox gamehas a similar feel and controls.
Though this is only what I suspect, the alternative is much too frightening.
Blimey, arent you quite the puzzle solver (puzzleer?).it's just the people who bought it and what they like (moronic games).
A regular nancy drew I dare say.
This is, of course, the real issue.
Consoles are for kids, they require no technical skills, and no thought whatsoever.
So morons buy them.
And they buy moronic games.
Which causes game companies to make moronic games.
ad infinitum.
Shiver me timbers ,but I've rarely seen a RPG needing a top-notch gaming pc. I don't think the console hardware itself would limit these sort of games.
As for the game construction set, well I never thought about that. Good point. Long lasting games are pretty much the enemy for the sales of games. You buy a game and run through it in less than 10h, opposite to having a game you play for years and have no "urgent" need to buy a new one. Hmm...an MS consipiracy! YOU BASTARDS!
They don't want to have good long lasting games, because they would loose money. What better way to herd the developers into that direction by giving them the tools only to turn left and right, not up and down.
We are totally screwed. Vertically and horizontally we are aviated into anal-hell.

Roughly in the same way that constructed, profitable and "somewhat safe" nuclear reactors are a helluva lot better than non-existing reactors, I guess.frissy wrote:Published, profitable and somewhat "good" games are hellawa lot better than canned ones.
