Are you saying that they don't ever want a newer version of Fallout? That would be self defeating.

Its not really that they dont want it, but back than when they where 13-15 years old gaming was everything to them and thats when fallout was released and they remember the great times they had.

Everything new feels like shit moslty cause they gotten older and dont really like gaming anymore, once in a while they start replaying fallout 2 and quit after couple of hours but it gives them sentimental value, than they go to these forums and rant at all the new games.

They have a hard time realising this cause they still enjoy gaming when they play Civ3 and Civ4 and that gives them illusion that they are still gamers when its actually a board game turned in to pc format and even people that hate all pc games can enjoy it.

This leads to some kind of anger focused towards 13-15 years olds today that enjoy Oblivion.
And they think the old people that enjoy Oblivion will go away if they convenience the 13-15 year olds to see things their way? My 60 year old aunt plays that game and has convinced all her friends to buy it an play it. I don't see them going away, but they will rush to buy something new made by the same people. They will be a harder crowd to convince that Bethesda is a bad company than the young ones and they hold the purse strings.

TelemachusSneezed, I may be a n00b here, but not to Fallout. It was a great game in its day, I hope it will once again be a great game in Bethesda's hands, but spreading stupidity like this article does just won't cut it.

If anyone is to be convinced, it is the company making the game, and they won't give this place a second thought with the attitude being shown here. I would be surprised to know they ever heard of this place and if they have, I doubt they care about it. I just hope they leave leveled scaling out of it. I also hope they leave turn-based isometric play in the past where it belongs.

Why is it that with every "no new information" thread we get another one of you idiots coming around blabbering about how bethesda will do ok if we cross our fingers and hope?

I think they're Bethesda agents. They're trying to convince us that Bethesda making a game that appeals to 60-year-old aunts is a good thing.

Fuck the company. Why should we, or you for that matter, care if Bethsoft makes more money or not?

Why does everyone insist on playing Todd's advocate? I mean, we're gamers not Bethesda's bean counters!

If someone invaded your country without provocation and killed your family would you say, "They have to because they need more territory."? (Obviously an exaggerated analogy, but you get the point.)

To hell with those old bags, but they are the ones that will make it a money maker, and the shit in the article won't convince them it is not worth buying. It won't convince the 13-15 year olds either. They don't read, remember? Do you think they will read that shit when they don't want to read a bit of dialog? Hell no. The only ones that will read that piece of crap are the people you don't need to convince.

Forget it, keep blowing smoke. Nobody will listen or care.
And if they do, say, one or two come to your side, what the hell difference will it make? I was in hopes you would rewrite that piece and make it something that would get somebodies attention. Slapping them in the arse with your little dicks won't get their attention. They have big dicks now and that gets attention. Screenshots and reviewers in their back pockets, a fan base that would buy Pong II if Bethesda made it.

What is the alternative? Didn't I ask that? Maybe you people don't read either. What are you going to do to reach your goal? What the fuck is your goal anyway? Do you even have an achievable goal in mind?

I'm here, convince me. You want to convince people of something, start with me. Convince me you have an achievable goal and I'll help spread the word.
I arrived via some sick soul spewing shit on another forum, thought I would have a look and here and all I am seeing is a pathetic attempt at nothing. No clear goal, no alternative plan, just more spewing of shit.

How's this for a goal: Fuck with their bullshit campaign. Make it so that every gamer knows just what kind of assholes they are. Turn it into common knowledge that Bethesda=B$.

It's been done with M$, Interplay, Atari, EA ect, so why not B$ too?

To what purpose? Why waste my time on them? Why should I care if they win or lose? And what if I end up liking the game and want another. What if it turns out to be good? Then I have to eat my words. No thanks, I don't go out of my way just to fuck with someone, if they make a bad game, I won't have to. They will do it to themselves.

The only reason I am wasting my time here is to try and get someone to have an approach that someone will listen to and make Bethesda listen to reason and make it a good game. If every word is degrading them, they will not listen. Fallout with leveled scaling? At least pick a goal you can achieve. Convience them that that is a horrid idea. Convience them that you are reasonalbe so they will at least consider what you say. The more companies that go out of buisness because we piss and moan, the less chance of ever getting another game worth playing. What game has come out in recent times that was worth playing anyway?

 Newsflash: We tried it already.

Go to this site and have a look at all the stuff leading up to Oblivion. Nearly all the major flaws with the game were predicted.

Well look, you've made five posts in this forum, and all of them have been in the "In The News" section, so I doubt you've gone anywhere else, say under the topic "Fallout 3 and the Future."

So pardon us if we don't take the time to get in yet another flame-war with some jick who came here to talk up Bethesda. If you want to know the opinions of the people on this forum, you have to shut up for a bit, spend a month getting to know people, and read some of the older posts. But I doubt that's the reason you are here, so in that case, kindly go back to where ever you came from. :shoo: :fart:

Fallout 3 will suck, Van Buren would have sucked, any variation created by any company would have sucked with one exception. If the original team that created Fallout 1 developed a badass Fallout 3.... we would just be playing Fallout 1 under a different name. Personally I consider FO2 an expansion pack, it was good but not great. Without the legs of FO1 to stand on before it, FO2 would have been luke warm at best. The rest of the franchise is not worth going into.

If Bethsoft wanted a chance for a good falloutie game they should change the title and take copyrighted elements from the FO franchise and market the new game as something else aside from a direct sequel.

Looking at the Fallout franchise as a whole, it sucks! Fallout: A Post Nuclear Roleplaying Game was an exception to the franchise certainly not the rule.

Even though I do not have a good opionion on the way Bethsoft handles sequels, the whole arguement of "they" will ruin the game is mote only to the point that the Fallout title sucks already and they can only make it worse. I do not care to argue the point of potential, that the FO Universe can be everything and more then is in my dreams. The fact that it has not been since the second title of the franchise leaves me with very little hope.

Sorry to sound like a hater, but that is the reality (or my very narrow minded one).

Undone, if you actually play all these games side by side (Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion) and stop being a MORON jumping to conclusions about the hardcore fans your opinions might begin to matter. I guarantee any person who has played them all to completion will have our similar views and realize there's no reason to be excited about Fallout 3 and Bethesda.

Would trying to have Bethesda actually communicate with the fans count?
Kharn from NMA wrote:I'll throw down the gauntlet before your feet, Bethesda. Simply choose. Either communicate with the fans who kept this show on the road for so long and constitute the strength of the franchise. Or risk it all in a desperate gamble to make a game for a new fanbase who haven't even heard of Fallout before you purchased it. Both roads have been tried before. The former road has led to success, the latter road has led only to total failure.

Choose.
It's the end of this article, which is the last of a series of 3.

That could work. IF the fans thought they could change the game one feature at a time, that is. I'm guessing they don't, especialy since they'd never know until it's nearly done.

Not to mention the sheer amount of stuff we'd rather not see. If the game features too many on the following list, I think many would rather that Fallout be left dead : crappy dialogue, a lack of choice and consequences, the raping of cannon, the raping of the setting and mood, level scaling, dumbed down quests, console-centric interface, pay-for-download "bonus" content, overal lack of the PnP feel, real-time combat, first-person view.

And I probably forgot some. (crappy AI?)

Anyways, too many of those, and we'd rather that Fallout not have it's name exploited for no good reason (other than monetary). We'd rather wait for a spiritiual decendant to the game, rather than an official sequel that runs contrary to the very concept of Fallout.

I have never played Morrowind or Oblivion. Last game purchase I made was Bloodlines which would have been a good game had they attended to bugs.

I think the hardcore fans are fine, I don't think they matter to anybody other than people with a long history of playing Fallout. And even then they don't matter since most that old have families to take care of and don't have time for concerning themselves with it.

I did not just join today, I have been lurking and reading for quite some time. I decided to post today in this thread because the article looks like a poor attempt at propaganda. The gem one is good, if you can get Bethesda fans to read it, it has a chance. This article is stupid and I wanted to say so.

Want me to go bye bye? Ban my ass.
Forget it, I tried and failed with you bunch of animals.
You failed with me and I would have been an easy one to snare, that means you will fail and we can look forward to another piece of crap.

Carry on with your useless shit.

Everything in the article is based on facts. There are a few times where the fanatic shines through. Categorizing Oblivion as "retarded" was a bit much, in my opinion. But overall it's a neat time line of Bethesda and their bullshit. is it gonna take several flops of Interplay proportions to drive that point home? God damn, there's too many idiots. And when the shit hits the fan AGAIN you and all the other apologists will be groveling like a bunch of sorry bitches.

Missionary And / Or Mercenary

Propaganda?

Another hit and run.

Who has come calling to discuss the futility of open discourse?

When an advocate for quality exercises free speech, why the visitations by the black birds of despair?

What agent of fortune comes forth as an agent of change.

Undone1:
... I was in hopes you would rewrite that piece and make it something that would get somebodies attention. ....

Consider that the only attention you wanted was right here.

Why?

Bradylama has an account at DAC, and posts more often at NMA and the Codex.

Try PMing him here, or there, or there.

At those treads - there -, try critiquing his text on style, presentation, and over all ..., [to your defeatist doctrinaire], the over all worthlessness of the cause for quality in computer entertainment.

Offer those - sites your sight - your post apocalyptic, post iPod = iGame(tm) despair,

then preach, or [as yet another hit 'n' run persona] .... victimize,

whatever your, mission statement / action committee, directs.

As honored as I am to have 4too stick up for me, I didn't post on DAC at all because I couldn't get my account activated. (thanks KoC) Not that it makes Undone any less of a coward.

I guess it's time to address some points even if undone1 has taken his ball to go play at QT3 or whatever other cesspit he slimed out of:
And may I ask a question? Is the objective to make Fallout 3 a failure or is it to convince Bethesda that they should listen to you and make the game as you dictate? That article will only serve to have them turn their backs on you and alienate any fanboys they have. A more diplomatic approach would go far to winning over more numbers to your side.
Neither. The goal of the article was to make people aware of Bethesda's bullshit and to not fall so easily for their hype machine. I myself bought a copy of Oblivion, and I still regret it. The difference between the gameworld in the Pocket Guide and the game I actually bought was a tremendous dissapointment.

The purpose isn't to win over fanboys, either. Fanboys by their very nature are impossible to reason with. Just take a look at some of the comments in the Digg article.

This is a sentiment that's so tremendously wrong I can't even begin to fathom it. You realise that if people were 13-15 when they first played Fallout that chances are they wouldn't have these "real life" concerns that would make gaming less appealing to them? I'm 21 and I still love gaming. I care about gaming the same way other men care about cars.

I loved Guitar Hero, Okami, Europa Universalis 3, and Medieval 2. I think its fair to say that I still love games, and that it has no bearing on my opinion that RPGs have been nothing but shit since Bloodlines.

Just take a look at the excitement over AoD.

That said, there's also no real cause to be angry towards 13-15 year olds today that love shit games, because the unfortunate fact of the matter is that they have nothing to play but shit. RPG-wise, anyways.
They've been making bad games continually since Battlespire, the only problem is that nobody wants to call their bullshit outside of fan communities. They continually produce shit games with their logo all over the sticker, but in-house titles are continual blockbusters, I wonder why?

If you don't care whether Bethesda makes a proper Fallout game or not, then I guess you just don't care about Fallout. I'd say you shouldn't be posting here then, but I guess I was too late for the party.
