Tiberian Sun was the real sequel to the first C&C, Red Alert was a parallel universe (world war 2)

C&C1 (Tiberian Dawn) Red Alert 1, and Tiberian Sun had real cutscenes, they were pretty decent actually, okay acting by all and directed by the man who plays Kane. Seeing cinematic cutscenes that cool with the original C&C in 1995 blew my pre-pubscent brain away. Remember when Kane shoots Seth's brain away? That should have given the game an M rating if ESRB was anything more than a sticker on boxes back then.

RA 2 on the other hand went straight to popular kitsch themes with no attempt at mirroring reality, probably because it was no longer westwood's franchise but rather EA's. I think I watched the first 10 seconds of RA 2's intro then just lost interest.

By all accounts, C&C 3 will be a further rape and pillage of the universe at the hands of EA. A "Generals"esque shit fest, except with purple aliens, stupid laser cannonz, ugly over stylized units, big explosions. Looks like a 3D star craft to me.

Worse yet, EA in their endless wisdom, didn't give Joe Kucan (Kane) the directing position for the cutscenes. If you've seen the trailer you'll notice how over dramatized every aspect of the production is, from fucking retarded camera movements to the retarded over dramatic script and acting. Joe Kucan must be thinking "what a bunch of fucking shit heads, fuck this atleast i'm rich"

the subtleties that made the original C&C so great were lost down the line of sequels. If you remember the original plot of C&C, it was sort of prophetic of the global war on terror, the intro even had a sky scrapper blow up. Kane was Osama except cooler. All this in 1995

Yeah, I bought some C&C pack while I was in germany, played it off and on there and whilst in Iraq, and enjoyed it.

The newer the games got, the better interface and glitter factor they had, but crappier story.

And they didnt even have any fuckin editor (or is there some DLable editor ?)

haha itd be funny if people stationed in iraq play battlefield 2 over LAN, and picked the middle east coalition as their team, put c4s on their jeep, and ram the US team's tanks all game. bf2 is fun. bf2142 is gay.
