If you haven't played them, and you liked baldur's gate, then it's an alright series.
I'm alarmed by the fact that otherwise I'm stumped.
I remember no good rpg's, and at least not any true RPG's, other than text-based games like zork..
While looking over my games, I just came across Hardwar, a shuttle simulator where you play trader/scavenger/fighter on the moon Europa, in a pretty screwed over society. There's an alright story behind it, and some good fun. Games like this, freelancer, X2 & 3 etc are pretty repetetive though.
If you're up for a laugh, or cry, and if you can find it; FOBOS. While you'll definately hate it for even comming into existance, you'll get entertained by experiencing just how screwed up a game can be.
Think of it as a parody, or comedy.
Then there are those jap-rpg's on the PS2 if you like playing stuff for the story.
Yeah, I know, heathen and all that shit, but while a lot of them are cliché's etc. I feel I get a good experience out of them anyway.
I guess that's all I have to offer.
Oblivion is worth a "meh". I haven't tried gothic, so I can't speak for that.

Ironically though, IWD2 was the most socially expanded FR game - Charisma finally had it's use, and many quests(Or even dialogue options) depended on race and class.Thor Kaufman wrote:BG2 ad least had the character interaction halfway interesting, whereas IWD only has the rather crappy fighting stuff. IWD is not very worthwhile, it's like the Fallout Tactics of the BG series.
At least in Targos - the 10% of the game, heh.

Depend on what you expect from games like these.Thor Kaufman wrote:BG2 ad least had the character interaction halfway interesting, whereas IWD only has the rather crappy fighting stuff. IWD is not very worthwhile, it's like the Fallout Tactics of the BG series.
An open ended game like fallout is great. It's a unique experience.
But games with a fixed storyline like IWD also has its own experience.
IWD2 is of course the better of the two..
The difference is that you don'tg et to choose what's next, but you are granted the ability to choose different methods of solving a situation. There are lots of fights and npc-discussions that can be solved differently.
I'm not saying IWD is da shit, but like I said, if you enjoyed BG, then give them a run through. It's definately worth trying.

I'd like to recommend Wizardry 8, but I can't since I have not played the game yet. BUt apparently it can be worthwhile.
What about Arx Fatalis? I kind of enjoyed it, if you like something unconventional. The game is rather hard though.
My best advice would be to wait and hope. Maybe Dragon Age and FO3 will prove worthy, but I keep my reserves on the latter like anyone here.

I tried Arx Fatalis, but I uninstalled it after that girl wanted to order me around and I couldn't slap her or kill hervendetta wrote:I'd like to recommend Wizardry 8, but I can't since I have not played the game yet. BUt apparently it can be worthwhile.

How about Pooper's theory that all super game heroes will be girls, add obnoxious to that I guess :wehc:
