Wheat fields represent peace and stability, while the gladiator lives a life of violence and turmoil. JUXTAPOSITION, peeps.

"I don't mean to argue with or attack you kids, obviously everybody has their tastes and nobody's gonna convince anybody of anything. But that comment about "DAWN OF THE DEAD REMAKE is this generation's ALIENS" and some of these other posts got me thinking about it. I just gotta point out this generation gap because I think Zack Snyder, at least based on these first two movies, is the perfect symbol of it. A talented guy, but all surface, apparently doesn't even know that there is an area beneath the surface where you can put things. And a generation of kids who for the most part would RATHER have it that way. If there was a way to just take the gloss off of a glossy magazine cover, they would be mainlining that shit. Because the brain thinks about movies different when it also has to have time for extensive critical thought about ringtones." ~ Quint

Does it matter? The makers of Gladiator didn't know that shit, they just thought wheat fields looked pretty.

God, that movie blew ass. Why did we even bring it up?

I dunno..

My point was just that any epic movie about some kind of historical moment (especially Greek ones, since they seem so trendy right now) all have stupid wheat fields in them. I know what they try to symbolise with them, but isn't there another way to do it (especially since all Hollywood historical movies are the same)?

Heck, include Mel Gibson movies in there too.

Would you prefer strawberry fields forever? Gladiator reminded me of a car commercial. Don't ask why but please agree.

wtf, what are you

what

they obviously did know that, dummy, thats exactly why they put it in. are you trying to sound like psychosniper or something. the elysian fields are where virtuous peoples go when they die. maximus was a virtuous man, so when he died, he went there. his wife and son were virtuous people, so when they were killed, they went there. thusly, when maximus got there, he met up with them - i didnt think it was a particularly difficult concept to grasp, that of elysium

edit: you dumb poop face, the musical track that plays during that sequence is even called 'elysium'

An awful film ties into, with the faintest of nods, a fairly generic aspect of Greco-Roman mythology, that knowledge logically becomes film trivia ?

Clearly, Darryl is a <pejorativeepithet>.

In other news, a 30ft gecko has been seen consuming tonnes of SOCKS in Prague. :drunk:

Seen "300" yesterday, at a local cinema (non-IMAX). A masterpiece. Enough said.
