i need some new jazz

Talk about music, movies, TV, books, other types of entertainment and what your vices are. Also, if you're addicted to the high you get off Aspirin, this is the place to talk about it.

i don't really listen to fusion anymore but shakti with john mclaughwhatever is pretty gut

good free or kinda free jazz (well known to obscure): mingus, coleman, alice coltrane, don cherry, albert ayler, art ensemble of chicago, matthew shipp, ken vandermark and tim berne. would recommend specific albums or something but i can't think of any names right now. they all give me the warm fuzzies so i hope that helps :duckie:

I'm not into jazz currently.

I could recommend some good Rockabilly, though.

Anything by Last Exit (Sonny Sharrock, Bill Laswell, Peter Brotzmann, Ronald Shannon Jackson).

And for your viewing pleasure: Miles Davis at Isle of Wight 1970.

John Coltrane, Miles Davis? Classics are always good.

I'm learning how to improvise in jazz right now on the piano, maybe in a few months I'll be good enough to show my skillz.

Good call.

The best thing about fusion is the incestuous collaborations.
McLaughlin, DiMeola, Corea, Pastorius, Santana, Hancock - find anything with two or more of these guys is a safe bet.
You can't argue with a good blow job -George Carlin

Or, conversely, because non-white people are responsible for pretty much every major musical genre of the last 100 years.

No. Hitler invented Hip Hop, Stalin invented Drum N Bass and R&B is in fact traditional Klan music. :drunk:

You forgot "Rock."

I beg you pardon...

Rock N Roll was invented by Elvis. Elvis was white. He ate white bread, he slept with white girls... on a white bed!

Raggae was designed for long nights at the campfire in the Hitlerjugend.

No.....Elvis came after such musicians as Roy Brown and Fats Domino. Elvis also came after the first Rock and Roll concert, the Moondog Coronation Ball, which consisted of only *suprise* black musicians. So no, Elvis didn't invent Rock, black people did.
