Fallout 3 Concept Art Studio Identified
[ Company -> Interview ] - More info on Company: Massive Black | More info on Game: Fallout 3

Looks like the studio Massive Black has been working on concept art for Bethesda's Fallout 3. The good news? Massive Black's president and co-founder is Jason Manley, formerly of Black Isle. Here's the snip from an interview with CGSociety:

The company’s experience developing and holding training workshops
helped bring Massive Black’s China-based team up to speed quickly. Now,
under the direction of Dan Staton and producer Jenny Kim, the Shanghai
staff plays a particularly important role in the studio’s 3D work as
does a second team in Bangkok. “They did a great job on ‘Battlefield
2142’, ‘Hellgate’ and ‘Auto Assault’ and are now working on ‘Killzone
2’, ‘Fallout 3’ and others,” says Manley.

I still think St. Toxic should get a job doing art for FO3 and stop squatting in people's basements.

Jason Manley worked on BG II and IWD I and II, but I think people will mostly remember his art from Vampire: The Masquerade. He's a very good artist and, apparently, has a strong bussiness sense, too.
However, he probably isn't directly involved. We don't even know as of yet whether or not the San Fran studio is involved in Fallout 3, only the Shanghai/Bangkok studios.

"OMG Chinks!" was my initial reaction. Well, their portfolio seems decent and I liked those vampire chicks in Bloodlines. It should at least beat the concept art used in Van Buren. Hopefully the artists know their Fallout in addition to being talented. The Van Buren artists obviously were clueless. Still, it's just concept art.
EDIT: Kharn, what's the story behind Mentok?

Mentok THE MINDTAKER is a character from the Adult Swim series Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, about a former superhero turned attorney (based on a 1960's series called Harvey Birdman and the Galaxy Trio). Mentok is an infantile all-powerful mincontrol being who presides over cases as a judge.VasikkA wrote:Kharn, what's the story behind Mentok?
You know me, I can never stick to one nick. I'll switch back to Kharn sometime soon.

Sounds like good news, i am wondering if those guys did the Fallout 3 Poster, back at E3.
DaC should invest in Chinese people to develop a Fallout Clone.
so like 1$/hour should do it. if not, we still have inders for that job.

Oh, whoops, forgot to mention, Jason Manley was one of Van Buren's concept artists, though I'm not sure if any of his concepts have been released.VasikkA wrote:It should at least beat the concept art used in Van Buren.
