That's how you know all these "grindhouse" and other hollywood remakes are just fucking poseurs.

They don't have the balls to make another Ilsa She-wolf of the SS movie. And really how farfatched would Ilsa: SheoWolf of Abu Graib be - don't tell me this shit aint relevant.

You've got to have a bit of an appreciation for exploitation and blaxploitation films, the dialog delivery is very similar, as is the ending. With the notable exception of the few stupid Tarantino witticisms, it's pretty accurate.

Also, I was warned before I saw the movie that the whole first half of Deathproof was dialogue. Modified my expectations. I can see how someone looking forward to a nonstop action carchase movie would be disappointed.

That would have been fucking great. Too bad Zombie/Weinstein/QT/RR didn't have the balls to push something like that.

I'm pretty sure there have already been talks about producing a second Grindhouse film in which they actually make a couple of the films shown in the trailers. Of course the Weinsteins fucked up pretty bad and released the film on Good Friday and as a result it is getting shit for box office and kind of queering the chances of this happening. I'm kind of wondering how you can put Zombie down however if you have ever watched TCM Underground.

On the note of the Weinsteins and massive fuck ups they are also considering pulling the film after this weekend and re-releasing it kill bill style as two separate films because of shitty box office. So yeah, if you haven't seen it yet see it soon.
my vocabulary skills is above you.

The concept is just a tough sell in todays movie market. The type of films were already a bit risky to do but making them a double feature being 3 hours long cut into the amount of show times the theaters can show it. Also, this weekend wasn't a real good weekend to release it as sunday doesn't really count as it was easter and Sunday generally count as 1/4-1/3 of the weekend profits. Plus of the people who are going to go to movies on easter sunday are unlikely to see a bloody movie, thought it could be the opposite as most people who go to the movies on holidays have no real family so it could most likely be grown men who masturbate a lot.

It's a bit disappointing as the movie was really cool. The only problem I see with coming back and releasing them seperatly is that you really need to watch Planet Terror to get some of the filming technique used in Death Proof. Anyways, they are sure to do well on DVD. Also, Tarantino isn't the type of guy who will stop doing something that he likes just because of the profits.

$11 million in five days is a pretty good take for an R-rated movie made on a shoestring and clearly not aimed at a wide audience. If you're comparing this to something like 300, obviously the box office numbers are going to look like "shit".

Yup. Planet Terror was fucking epic. Death Proof was a snoozefest in the first half and utterly predictable in the second half. I think Tarantino wanted us to sympathize with the serial killer by putting in all that hideous, endless dialogue.

Hate to break it to you but Planet Terror was predictable and derivitive as fuck. That was the point. For both movies. Deathproof was predictable? No shit, asshole. It was a formula film. They both were. Both were well made films, I think you missed the point somewhere.

Notice how it's stayed at 11mil since monday? They release the sales figures after the weekend, then they will release more after the next weekend. UNLESS OF COURSE YOU MEAN THAT NOT ONE PERSON SAW THE MOVIE ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY, that would be very subhuman type logic.

Weekend Figures.

I just got Prince of Space. That's one I had already seen. I love how well thought out Crankor's plan was.

I'm actually watching Hobgoblins now. I think I've seen Diabolik too but its been awhile.
