I played through the first scene. Can't get THAT excited (though the music is pretty neat). Bad combat, not much else to see. It's only a tech demo, but it's so basic that it's hard to get a sense of anything more than, well, an engine demonstration.

Still, nice to see it released, and, like others, i wonder if there's any way the engine can be used for modding.

I doubt that. Unless they release the source code...

...before they 'lose' it again!

This is so going to be modable once the russians get their hands on it and haxor the file system like they did with fallout2.

As if. There's a lot of stuff in storage at Interplay with nobody keeping tabs of what is what or where is where. Even if Caen still has it and hasn't played it through to Bethesda (or Obsidian, but I'd doubt both, no use for it for either of them), he won't be able to find it.

Sadly, I'm not being paid for people being stupid.

Looks and sounds pretty boring so I won't bother. It'd likely piss me off more than anything. Unfinished realtime combat? Bleh.

So...can we expect the whole of Van Buren to be released around Fallout 4's announcement? NMA, don't ever stop milkin this baby! huh

What makes you guys think there was a functional build of Van Buren? As far as I know, there wasn't.

<b>YUMMM .... </b>

Although I can't shake the feeling that they released it to see the community's reaction to the proposed game play.....

As for there being a fully working build...er why would there be, but...if they got all the basics done on the balance/special etc. then wouldn't there be a finished (or nearly finished) PnP version?

I mean you just don't code that shit from a gut feeling, specially not in this variety. So, what IS finished to achieve even a techdemo like this?

bwt. thanks Kharn (you, not nma)

Ps. still, i'm a designer, i'd rather see more unreleased concept art! I still believe there should be shitloads of that compared to what has been released. Unless the rest of Fallout's (1,2 & fobos)concept art was used in the design phase.

The combat is ugly as all shit. Then it crashed. Still, it's nice that it's out there just as a reminder to why the hell Fallout 3 shouldn't be fucking real time.
