I have found my vodka

Talk about music, movies, TV, books, other types of entertainment and what your vices are. Also, if you're addicted to the high you get off Aspirin, this is the place to talk about it.

Ya, they seem to have that shit nailed in Eastern Europe. Stuff I had which was brought over from Poland was the mutt's nuts. Wouldn't wash a paint brush in Smirnoff or the other wannabes after that.

there are absinthe kits available , you gotta make it your self, the liquid cant be sent anywhere, but hell, if you have a IQ above 40 you should be able to order the kit and make the stuff.

Don't know, as much as I've tried Russian vodke, I've generally been very disappointed. Also, the kind of Moskavskaya and Stolichnaya shit that they have in all clubs abroad is vastly overrated garbage. I went to an international school and some people from Russia got some apparently "good" Russian vodka, which I found to taste like piss.

You are in Estonia and have the advantage to drink all the amazing shit, Saaremaa, Stön, etc, which quite frankly I'd have over any other vodka any day. I wish I still had the opportunity to consume those in copious amounts, so enjoy it while you still can.

edit: and Absinthe is overrated. I tried it while I was in Switzerland (in which it's quite common, however not very popular) and also when I was in Ibiza. Sure, it's strong, but it does taste like shit and has a horrible aftertaste. Almost as bad as that French vodka that I once had. That's right, French vodka, don't repeat my mistake.

Absinthe is really nothing special, it just has a special culture behind it and due to it being Illegal (makes no sense really, it is about as dangerous as alchohol) in many western nations it is for some reason considered extra cool but mostly only by people who dont know it.

Culture wise there is a group of people who love it and consider it better then alchohol this is ofcourse their choice.

I wonder how many of the people who say absinthe tastes like shit say the same thing about Campari, Chartreuse, Benedictine, etc. - all those weird liqueurs that are acquired tastes. There must be some decent absinthe out there.

It used, apparently, to really be dangerous, but we're talking 200 years ago. I think it also gave you hallucinations. Of course, the absinthe that's sold now isn't dangerous, it's just a very strong alcohol with a distinct(and good, I'd say) taste.

Apparently they used to add small amounts of arsenic, and that was meant to make you hallucinate. I don't know though, that's what I've heard. Someone wikipedia it.

As you wish, according to this is it was purely because of stupid people being subjected to scare tactics (like the Jack thompson shit and video games) that it got banned, in reality it is as dangerous as alcohol.

Absinthe now = Alcohol
Absinthe then = Thujone/wormwood alcoholic goodness.
You cant buy the old fashion abbie in
most countries because they think you will see
green fairies. I tried it and got very dissapointed.

Due to scare tactics performed over 150 years ago, in any nation that had a sane population and government back then Absinthe is still legal :giggle:

Well, most countries did not ban it because it was
not a very popular drink to begin with, just a bunch
of french art fags and dare i say it, BELGIANS.
Howerver, now, due to the toxicity and medical use
of wormwood it is hard to get properly made absinthe..

its because its a bitter drink before properly prepared, the morons you
speak of drank raw absinthe in its unprepared and nasty tasting form.

you have to poor ice cold vodka over a sugar cube on a special silver
filter spoon gently, that rids the absinthe of the horrible bitter wormwood taste , raises the proof of the alcohol, and gives it a cool
neon green look as opposed to the dull flat green look.

look it up, it even has its own special type of filter spoon and alcohol
pouring pitcher.

I thought you were supposed to pour water over. The absinthe is already high proof so the water dilutes it.

Indeed, it's water you pour over sugar. And good absinth is actually drinkable without sugar or water.
