While the cheery blue skies kind of dampen the mood, it's the closest thing to Fallout we've seen yet.

Iraq 2073 - the front of the picture (4 people group).
Left Side - reminds me on Simpsons(the globe)
Right Side - some GTA part of the map(near harbor)
The shield, where some soldiers with MG standing - GTA : Vice City
In the front(the lying body) - Bioshock
The guy in the middle back - STALKER
Fallout ? Cant find it. - maybe the car, not sure.
Overall it looks like a bowling setting. My humble interpretation.

That is without a doubt a brotherhood helmet on the corpse. The rest of the outfit looks like garbage samurai. Im more than willing to bet that the brotherhood will make an appearance on this coast as well from this picture.
You would think that the sky wouldn't be so lovely after the apocalypse. For some reason the picture reminds me of a boardwalk carnival area.
Paradise Falls as a location name is a bit gay as well. Not Flintstones gay, homosexual gay.

Finally. I was getting tired of the landscapes.
Some weird feelings about this one. Too green, too survivalist. Looks like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lacks a higher fucking resolution, too. But I like it anyway.

Well, it's more sketchy than the others. This one is more specific and looks more like concept art than a promotional poster. It actually reminds me of Dawn of the Dead, for some reason. It's nice to see other environments than the endless wasteland we saw in Fallout 1/2/Van Buren, but I fear it's getting too Roadwarriorish. I still want to see something techy next time.
Also, we have confirmation that the game will be based on a Canadian soap opera. Liam Neeson starts to make sense now.

Looks like it but it's probably just tilted. Is it just me, or does the guy to the right have crotchless chaps?LoneGunman wrote:It it just me, or does the "highwayman" in the front of the picture have two rear axles?

this picture is almost a relief after the others we've been shown. i agree with aonarans assertion about the weapons, they look very roadwarrior, but i like it, i think it works. i dont mind the blue sky, though to nitpick i think it should have fewer or no clouds. i always imagined the sky over the wasteland as endlessly blue, with no clouds, because that would imply moisture, which just doesnt fit.
im quite sure that the beth devs are saying, "its gotta have the brotherhood!", but for them to be on the east coast simply makes no sense. they emerged from one bunker on the other side of the nation in california, were insanely isolationist, and had very few members. how in the world would they get to the east coast? why isnt even an issue, because its just not possible.Dogmeatlives wrote:That is without a doubt a brotherhood helmet on the corpse. Yeah, it does now that you mention it. I suppose that it could have been rigged that way by the townies for some purpose, but I can't for the life of me come up with a reason that would have allowed it to get into the state it's in if they were using it for something.LoneGunman wrote:It it just me, or does the "highwayman" in the front of the picture have two rear axles?
As far as the picture goes, I'm liking the setting a whole lot more than the others. The style of it seems more in keeping with the setting, and after some consideration a strip-mall seems like a natural place for survivors to head.
I mean; lots of supplies, big open buildings, pretty easy to fortify, and they're usually out in the open enough that you've got a good clear range of vision for a mile or so in any direction. Certainly seems like as good of a place to set up shop as any.
I also like the perspective here and wouldn't mind seeing it be the one they go with in the game. Its not quite the traditional Fallout view but it makes for a decent chase cam out of combat and it can pull into a more top-down combat view really easily.
It would also solve one of my few nit-piks with the original engine; which is to say that you never really got a sense of building scale. While I certainly loved the fact that all of the buildings were the same size inside as they were outside (That's just too damn rare in RPGs), having everything be one or two floors in size, especially in cities, just sort of killed the look of it for me. I mean, here I am walking around in San Fransisco or Los Angeles, places I've been to and know the look and layout of, and the only difference between them and Redding or Shady Sands is the material the buildings are made of.
Also, as far as the sky goes in the pic'... I can certainly understand it. Realistically speaking by the time this game takes place its been mare than a hundred years since the bombs dropped. Even with event that catastrophic, its more than enough time for the ash clouds to settle and the sky to clear up.
Personally I think that having a blue sky during good weather is a nice touch, and neatly underlines the series themes of renewal in the face of humanity's basic profanity. It seems both lo0gical and poetic to me that the first place in the world to recover from the destruction that humans wrought is also the place that they can no longer reach.

the brotherhood is relatively small, isnt it? then the eastern brotherhood would be smaller still. so we've got a handful of eastern brotherhood boys as far east as chicago. thats certainly a whole lot closer than california, but with so little manpower and without the resources and technology of the original brotherhood, they wouldnt exactly be a progressive order. i wouldnt think of them going further east than the mississippi, if at all.

Well, we also see in the intro movie to the first game that the Power Armor that the Brotherhood uses was used to some degree (and it may even have been regulation) by the US military forces during the war. It also stands to reason that there would be military stock-piles around the country, especially on the East Coast given the number of high-priority targets there that would need defending.King of Creation wrote:Well if you went by Tactics canon...

A problem that I have with the four posing people is that they seem to be wearing Vietnam era fatigues. They look like Woodstock patrons at an antiwar rally.
Excellent point Dracos, it does seem like the power armor was a very common armor for military use. Therefore, who is to say that some fortunate gang couldn't come upon a military base and arm themselves with the same stuff that the Brotherhood had available. It just seemed like the power armor was very rare in the first two games. I think that's where the idea that only the Brotherhood had access to it comes from.

mmm...me like. This is definetly showing (at least as a concept) a more cruel world.
Junktown 2 (as in good).
Mmm...more...I want more! MORE!
EDIT: One more thing, the waterpool right to the guys. Interesting (in a good way).

It looks okay, like one of those old pictures you see in a diner of some sort. I agree with Dogmeatlives that the uniforms they are wearing don't look very 50's but look more vietnamish. The only overall problem I have with it is that it looks a bit too realistic, the first two fallouts were kinda comic book ish looking in style. I'm not sure I must ponder on this for many nights.
