The first trailer for Will Smith's I Am Legend is out here http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/iamlegend/ and Youtube. So far it looks decent. A lot better than I previously expected based on pictures and set reports. And I'm a sucker for a lone dude in a post apocalyptic world with only a dog at his side.

First it was Starcraft 2, then it was the fo3 teaser, and now its I Am Legend. Seriously what happened to the real Mad Max RW who would hate everyone and everything and take a shit in its mouth then dump it in the ocean?

When this was first announced, I was kinda scared. I Am Legend is one of, if not, my favorite book. What I was most worried about was how they were gonna treat the movie and if I was gonna get Wild Wild West Will Smith or Ali Will Smith. He looks like he's taking the role seriousily, so in that regard, I'm happy. There are worse people they could have casted. I remember once hearing Jeff Goldblum was up for the role.....ofcourse, this movie was originally suppossed to be made a decade ago with Arnold....so go figure.

It's because we're cooler than you, isn't it? Admit it.

Anyways, Will Smith is one of those actors you can't necessarily write off until the movie's out. Because for every I,Robot or Independence Day he's got an Ali or an...uh...that movie where he was gay. Anyways, my point being that the trailer itself is pretty fucking awesome. There weren't any "AW HELL NAW DAWG" scenes, they didn't overelaborate and give the whole story away, they captured the lonely existence aspect...and come on, people. Seriously. It's a guy in a post-apoc wasteland walking around with a dog and a gun. If you're on DaC that image should immediately give you a hard-on, Will Smith or no.

If he didn't always play himself it would be better, but that guy's got too much mouth and not enough brain to make a good actor. I mean I watched Ali and then my mom got scared and said "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air." I whistled for a cab and when it came near, the license plate said "Fresh" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought "Nah, forget it, Yo homes, to Bel-Air!" I pulled up to the house about seven or eight and I yelled to the cabby, "Yo homes, smell ya later!" I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there, to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-Air.

I just finished the book. I really couldn't see Will Smith at all as the main character. I wouldn't think an adaptation would be any good.
