Two new screenshots and interview with Lead Designer
GameSpy: Is there a particular new unit or combined arms tactic that you favor so far?
Josh Mosqueira: The beauty with Opposing Fronts is that every week something new and totally cool gets added to the game. A few weeks ago it was the British Creeping Barrage, what I call the walk of death. [Ed's note: The Creeping Barrage is a tactic where artillery traditionally fire upon the area in front of an advancing friendly army, which keeps the enemy pinned down and also produces smoke cover for the advancing army.] I just love calling in a Creeping Barrage as the enemy is retreating. Nothing says revenge like cutting off retreating troops in a maelstrom of fire and brimstone.
I am salivating in anticipation.

I'm not sure. Haven't played Close Combat but I would recommend it.

A shame. I love the constant change of pace in CC. Especially upon the first enemy contact when you've moved your troops in total silence and suddenly all hell breaks loose. Or when the enemy retreats/gets killed or you lose visual contact with them and the battle pauses.S4ur0n27 wrote:In COH everything goes quite fast, so you have to be on your guard all the time.
It is quite awesome all all of a sudden hear a sniper shot and your men screaming and then machineguns chattering and shit. It is a fun game. I almost want to reinstall.

In the words of General Patton- "To uninstall is to declare defeat in the midst of an undecided battle. To reinstall is simply playing god."
Patton said it, not me. Reinstall at your own risk.

Meh, the game mechanics itself are good and it is fun in multiplayer...but the singleplayer campaign sucks ass.
Basicly 90 % of the missions are unlosable even if youre a complete and utter moron.
Before anyone asks I played on the highest difficulty setting.
1. Youre never under presser of your enemies, they sit in their stupid bases or at the places on the map where the designers put them and do nothing. I have never had my base attacked except for that scripted panzer attack in the mission about clearing the way for that convoy, and that missions where you oughta defend carentan
2. Basicly, you get a shitload of recources for free from the very start on, even recources like fuel which are required to build tanks.
You almost never have to fight off the enemy with lesser advanced units like infantry to get those recources. In most missions you can build tanks from the start, sit in your base, wait till you have a complete army and move out.
3. The game gives you even free troops and recources in missions without basebuilding. WTF? I mean, having to care for your troops and making sure not too many of them get killed is kinda the point of such a mission type in RTS. Giving the player endless free replacements makes them kinda pointless, no?
Summary: Boring, unstrategical, unchallenging campaign. Made idiot proof for retards. The oblivion of singleplayer RTS.
The only time I had a real challenge was when I decided to pursue the optional (!) goal of conquering that hill in 30 minutes. That was the only time I had fun with the campaign.
God, I hate it to have to point out the total lameness of the CoH singleplayer campaign to people, why dont you asshats see it yourselves? Do you have no fucking clue about what makes quality video games except Fallout?
