Death to Fallout 3

Since Bethesda decided to make Fallout 3, we figured we might as well have a forum about it.

Death to Fallout 3

Post by TelemachusSneezed »

Is there any chance that Fallout 3 will crash n' burn, causing severe revenue loss to Bethesda, or does Bethesda have enough fanbois that will buy the game simply because it's made by them?

Discuss.

I don't think it is matter of Bethesda having enough fanbois....

I think it is question of how long Zenimax's board will continue to pump millions of their $$$ into Bethesda Softworks.

My guess would be:

For a very, very, very long time.

Bethesda Softworks is privately owned by Zenimax Media which has Donald Trump on the board and some big shot millionaires as well - millonaires with too much money to know what do with them. So they support Bethsoft --- as their spare time project so to speak.

And only when these millonaires pull the plug...

So you're saying that if Zenimax thought that the Fallout license was a dead-end, they could conceivably give up on it.

What's an estimate of the BS fanbase? I'm sure they'll jump on FO3, so is it reasonable to assume that [BS fanbase] * 150% = [potential customers of FO3]? Is that enough to be a hit?

All I'm saying is that it would be nice if Bethesda got taught a lesson from this, as unlikely a senario as that might be. Jeez!

The game will be a success and they will make at least a Fallout 5. So it is written and so it shall be.

Beth's Fallout will probably end on a lame cliffhanger "To Be Continued in Part IV". It's certain to get all the RPG OF DA YAER awards. They'll be rolling in money. That's why the game is being made the way it is.

Not if it competes against Mass Effect which has an even bigger hype machine behind it, though to be fair, I have no idea if the two come out at nearly the same time, but I mean, come on, the game has fiction books coming out about it or something.

Mass Effect is supposed to come out in the fall of 2007. Might be delayed until Christmas.
