Stalker buggy???

Post by Reznorock »

Alright so I just bought n loaded up stalker, wth is everyone talking about it being buggy?? the only problem ive run across is the pointbreak error and that only seems to occur when youve modded the game.

I gotta say, the game kicks some serious ass and the second half of the mission where you get the military documents is a trip. past that im working on it, gotta turn the mission in.

Multiplayer is a good bit of fun as well. but overall I think it sucks that if you mod the game you can't play multiplayer but I do believe they are working on that for the next patch .

Anyone thats played, what was the first moment you had an in game moment?

Mine? well.

I just got done talking with serily , I had taken a lot of fire and was low on life and out of medkits, I wandered across the road a ways and all of the sudden it started raining and lighting flashed across the sky, I walked over to a little area of shelter that sort of looked like a bus terminal without the bench, there were other stalkers there, all the sudden one busts out with a guitar and starts playing right as I turn around and see the rain pouring down and more lightning across the sky.

it was pretty bad ass, I definantly enjoy how everyone wanders around doing theyre own little thing.

You'll be surprised how many times they'll end up doing their own little things. Over. And over. And over again. D:

Like getting killed and respawned? Truly innovative.

Quests would get borked if you did them in the wrong order sometimes? When you have to rescue the guy at the agropom from the military guys, I didn't talk to him and just went down the hole. Then, every time I would try and get to him he'd run back into the middle of the fight and get killed.

Also I died in an anomaly and then it shot me out of the underground lab, through the roof? I got to see clipping boxes, then it asked me to change levels, so I did, and I ended up alive, outside, but I couldn't move or do anything.

yeah, quests are easily borked. but the quests suck anyway, so why bother? the atmoshphere and the ai is great, however.

Don't you have to do quests though? I would have liked to do without, and I haven't tried, but I imagine it'd be a pain in the ass to get through Duty without questing in there in the first place, and what about that psycho-whatsit that keeps you from zombifying?

The game only crashed once for me but it ran pretty shitty for performance wise. The only one I can remeber at the moment that was buggy a mission that you had to escort and NPC but he got stuck and I couldn't get him out of it anyway I tried so I had to reload because of that, that was fairly annoying.

You don't have to do all those side quests bullshit that seem to be randomly generated. Most of the quests were pretty bad and there wasn't much with any substance. There was like 2 actual quests in the whole freedom base. As far as I remember there was only one real quest for the duty.

There the story quests that I think you have to do, there might be a few you could get past but I think Urizen was referring to the randomized (COLLECT 10 TAILS) type quests.

One of the major patches coming out (1.1?) is adding a freeplay mode, where there's no major quests and you can visit all the random areas, join factions, etc. Looks pretty awesome.

complete opposite for me. i think it runs best on slightly older hardware, since it uses direct x eight and a half, not dx9.

yes, i was, but i could have been more precise.

Eh? Freeplay mode? is that old news or are you talking about the 1.004 or whatever patch theyre working on right now?

I died a few times after encountering zombies, I was trying to listen to them, they sound like they're retarded, it's hilarious.
