My guess is that it lowers its selling point, to the extreme, and no matter how much we insist on gameplay over graphics, we can't help but feel dissapointed if it looks pre-2006.
It takes a truly great game, for one to overlook the graphics, and since we haven't seen that, I'm prone to change my opinion.
Depends on what you're looking for. I think one can look at it as a piece of artwork, and appreciate it that way. The game appears to be non-linear in the extreme compared to the vast majority of games, and I think that's its biggest selling point... at least for me. I'm looking forward to being able to play the game; I think it is a definite advance in "Sim" games.
There's a big difference between non-linearity and something that drags on into infinity.
I value your point though, I agree that this looks like a notch upwards for simulation.
