Fuck that. If the graphics are as good as they are now in 2008/2009, I'll be plenty happy if they come through on the game mechanics alone. Also, if the graphics are "outdated," that means more people will be able to play the game without having to go out and buy a new rig. I don't see a problem here.

Depends on what you're looking for. I think one can look at it as a piece of artwork, and appreciate it that way. The game appears to be non-linear in the extreme compared to the vast majority of games, and I think that's its biggest selling point... at least for me. I'm looking forward to being able to play the game; I think it is a definite advance in "Sim" games.

My guess is that it lowers its selling point, to the extreme, and no matter how much we insist on gameplay over graphics, we can't help but feel dissapointed if it looks pre-2006.

It takes a truly great game, for one to overlook the graphics, and since we haven't seen that, I'm prone to change my opinion.

There's a big difference between non-linearity and something that drags on into infinity.
I value your point though, I agree that this looks like a notch upwards for simulation.

Hmmm, yeah. I think some people really are looking for a game that drags on forever, but I think this is a game I would pick up, but drop / re-pick up sporadically because of its weird replayability. That's been my habit with most of the Sim-X games. We'll see...

Spore is already listed as part of MS's "Games for Windows", so you know they're gonna shoehorn Spore into DX10 to sell a few more copies of Vista. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that, along with a 360 exclusivity are part of the long delays.

I'm still wondering why this is even important. Spore never looked like it was going to be good.

To me it looked like an upgraded Sim Ant/Life/Earth combined with Designosaurus 2, which were really fun games. Nothing like them has been made since.

To me it looked like someone with wild hopes and dreams and all the ambition in the world. I thought it looked like childs play next to the nuclear exchanges in SupCom.

Spore sort of reminded me of that SNES game Evo or whatever it was called, which was a fun take on platformers at the time. Other than that, Spore looked like a cool way to create a fucked up civilization, and watch the world around you follow the same fucked up routine. Boring eventually, yes, but -- what isn't nowadays?

From what I have read of spore you do a lot of shit on earth a LOT and then to make it all the more interesting you have the whole galaxy to play with, millions of planets if I recall correctly, although doing things like going underwater and messing around down there are pretty much being saved for an expansion from what ive heard, typical bullshit so they can make more cash by popping out with an x-pac involving content that should have been in game in the first place. either way, im still looking forward to playing it, if I remember it when it comes out anyways.

Fable was fun, but I went into playing it excpecting to be playing a console game on my pc so it wasn't really all that bad.

I just got stalker, I love it and can't wait for the mod train to pull in full bore.

Another game im looking forward to is called the Witcher, it look's pretty nice so far but I would really like to take a crack at a demo to check out the gameplay.

check it out.

Looks like a typical action-oriented "rpg" for console kiddies D: What about it?
