ipod docking bay

Post by Mr. Teatime »

Ok, I've sold my main sound system, got rid of most of my CDs, and my music library is basically electronic and on my ipod right now.
I'm after a decent sound system, not too expensive, to use with it - an ipod docking bay. Can anyone recommend one that's good value for money? I'll be moving into a flat in a couple of weeks so Im' not after ear splitting volume, just good sound quality and good price (and in the UK).

Thanks

An ipod dock should have a line out? So you get an 1/8" inch to rca connector and hook it up to any decent stereo system at all.

At least I assume it's the same in the uk as the us as far as sound equipment goes?

Totally. Docking bays are just a new way for apple to sell shit with it's logo on it.

Seriously though, keeping all your music only on an electronic device is a bad idea, no?

Not unless you downloaded them all illegally then find the RIAA on your doorstep and they take them away and your left with no music.

edit: i like these speakers, i've heard good things about klipsch and mission's products as well -- invest in a nice pair of bookshelf speakers, a woofer and a receiver and you should be set. avoid bose at all costs.

also is there any reason to get an ipod "dock" at all? does it provide added functionality or something?

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

I think its so you can carry it round easier, but its quiet. My friend just has a wire you plug in the headphone bit and you can play it through speakers.

A couple of CD backups of the data are always good too.

Docking stations are a crock unless you throw patio parties a lot and don't feel like lugging the radio outside. I use a set of decent computer speakers with a subwoofer for my iPod. These are supposed to be great for iPods, and are well priced.

What was wrong with your old sound system?
