Live Free or Die Hard

Post by POOPERSCOOPER »

I just saw it and ran home just so I could tell DAC the inside scoop. It was good but not as good as the others, as expected right? Had some good action in it and is probably the best action movie in awhile.

My list in order of Die Hards is 1 being the best of course then probably 3 and then probably 2 with 4 being last.

Thanks for the scoop, poop

Haven't seen 4 yet, but I also like the first best, with third as a second and the second as third B)

the dialogue was pretty childish and i was pretty disgusted that they went for a pg-13 rating, even going so far as to completely butcher "yippie kiyay, motherfucker" by covering the word fuck with a gunshot so as to not get the r rating. the villian was pretty much entirely unoriginal. how not fun are omnipotent bad guys with armies of henchmen and unlimited resources? why would he want the money then, anyway? he clearly had more money than he knew what to do with, it was pretty dumb in that regard

it was still better than 2, though

Did you miss the whole part when all he had left was only a couple guys? I agree the bad guy wasn't very interesting. I would of liked it to be R but I think if you didn't tell anyone that it wasn't R they wouldn't really have noticed the difference too much.

Transformers had a lot of words cut out by the action too. I noticed a few times like some guy would be in the middle of a sentence about to say something naughty but then it gets interrupted. That's actually very common... most guys in movies get interrupted with the "what the..."

I don't think it beats 2 though.

i assumed that was because they were all out accomplishing other tasks and bruce willis' character managed to get up close before the bad guy could bring all his forces to bear. with all the equipment, vehicles, weapons and money they had, i dont think its convincing that those four or so were all that were left, especially since we saw other bad guys in the course of the movie whose deaths were not accounted for

If I remember right, Bruce was actually initially pissed that they wanted to go for a PG-13 rating, however felt better about it after seeing the finished product. The sidekick was annoying and almost entirely useless, but then again, I might have been just as angry if he started being like "I'M AN ACTION HERO TOO" and gave Bruce competition for best badass in the flick, so it's acceptable that he was an annoying weakling.

I still find funny it that the most directly evil thing the main villian did was kill all of the East Coast's IT guys. I'm also waiting for someone to make a "I'm a mac/ I'm a PC" ad with Bruce Willis threatening to kill Mac boy with a lead pipe.

I remember watching the first one on a saturday afternoon once and they overdubbed 'yippie kiyay, motherfucker' to 'yippie kiyay, mister falcon'. :dizzy:

I never was a big Die Hard or Bruce Willis fan, but this one is pretty good, probably second only to the first one. It's not pretensious or anything, it knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything else.

If they got an actor as good as Alan Rickman to play the villain, this one could've surpassed the first. Olyphant was flat, whenever I see him without his Deadwood regalia he's just pedestrian.

I liked it. I loved how Bruce was just this grumpy old guy who didn't understand computers at all and just went "yeeeehaaaw!" and grumbled whenever something went fast and went kaplew. Great entertainment, indeed :drunk:
