NCSoft is a Korean company, that's what I was talking a-boot.Koki wrote:That's Japanese. Yes, there's a difference.
You think BBC viewers are objective newsreaders? How amusing. The only difference between Fox and BBC viewers is that one of them is more sanctimonious and smugly convinced of their own superiority. Guess which one.Brother None wrote:I'd argue that having opinions shovelled in front of you by the newscarrier is exactly the opposite of forming your own opinion. Who do you think bothers to make up their own mind, Fox viewers or BBC viewers?

(1) My friend, I believe a game with a first-person perspective is a different beast altogether than a first-person shooter. Would you brand Morrowind with this title?Maximous wrote:2 things about FO3:
(1) 1st person shooters make me nauseous. After 15 minutes of play, I feel like I'm going to throw-up
(2) I won't play a game that has NO FUCKING GAME PLAY. FO3 will NOT have anything new for fucking game play sometimes know as FUN. What sounds Fun about FO3.
(2) I remember from my days on Earth, in the late 20th century it became fashionable for religious zealots to castigate books and film as "filthy," refusing altogether to read or view them. How could these fools judge the contents of something which they had never seen or read? They were the first targets of my righteous crusade for power.

Deus Ex and System Shock, while both containing good RPG elements, are considered first person shooters in category, despite both having signficantly different gameplay and pacing then most first person shooters. Thief has dramatically different pacing then most first person shooters, in that it relies more on stealth and cunning then your ability to 'run and gun', but in the history of first person shooters, it's in there......Infact...oddly enough, Morrowinds sequel, Oblivion is held to be a FPS by Wikipedia and...pretty much everyone I talk to.Khan Noonien Singh wrote:Whatever problems you might have with that game, it's not a first-person shooter. The gameplay and pacing are significantly different.
Just because a game has RPG elements, no matter how heavily, doesn't change that it is a FPS.

Yes. It's a fantasy first-person shooter, like Hexen. There was minimal roleplaying to be had in Morrowind, and that's why I didn't like it. Baldur's Gate and Fallout are traditional cRPGs. Traditional cRPGs tried to recreate the feel of a D&D adventuring party on the computer (notice the party part, which is why most had top-down/iso views, not first-person, because first-person does not accomodate party play well). Most of the modern fantasy stuff is something else altogether, and it's closest approximation is FPS.Khan Noonien Singh wrote:(1) My friend, I believe a game with a first-person perspective is a different beast altogether than a first-person shooter. Quite.
The game sucks ass as an RPG, it seems moree like an adventure game, like the classic SNES Leging of Zelda: A link to the past.
Actualy, the two are about equaly in the RPG catagory.
