I got that.

You need to equip it into one of your slots (ie where you put weapons you want to shoot).

You activate it by clicking on it.

You can also get stelthboys from Nightkin in the Cathedral.

It's not useless. You can use it to run out from the Cathedral if you haven't killed all of the chilren there.

You have to sneak to use it. It adds some sort of bonus to sneak, but you are not "invisible".
I'm not insane, I'm just misunderstood. Unless I misunderstood the meaning of "insane".

Generally I'll say don't rely on Stealth Boy. It has its use, but not much.

The stealthboy makes you look cool. That's all I use it for.

The stealthboy is as useless as the sneak skill. Sell it.

The Stealth Boy was one of the greatest pieces of equipment in the game. When I wasted Mariposa I never had to take on more than one mutant at a time. The SB combined with my turbo plasma rifle at long range meant I could sneak around the base without any mutant intervention and pick them off when I felt the need.

BTW, I also found a cache of SB's in the Brotherhood's supply room on level 1.

Ummm.. FO1 doesn't have Bozar....

Anyone noticed that if you have a SB or a Geiger Counter and tyou have used it a bit youcan't sell it. A bug? I mean, no shop in the game has ever bought a non full gear..

Oh well, a minigun then.

Yeah, that's actually true. It slipped my mind. I think it was the same thing with motion sensors too, not sure. :(

Might be because I've been playing FO2 lately. I should have a try with Fallout 1 again.
