I rec 12 Monkeys (even if the ending is a little too spelled out) and La Jetee since it's the short 12 Monkeys was based on and it is absolutely brilliant. If you can find it and don't mind French subtitles (although the criterion collection release also has an english version for the true philistine) you might dig it.

Then check out Sans Soleil and Alphaville as well. Both French, both brilliant. Also in Alphaville Eddie Constantine plays a devilish pervesion of the American private eye stereotype and Anna Karena is as gorgeous as ever. Nice.
