[ Person -> Interview ] - More info on Community: Inside the Vault

Inside the Vault is a little different this week, as it showcases a small interview with Community Manager Matt Grandstaff. Highlights:

What’s your job at Bethesda?

I’m the Community Manager here at Bethesda, so I spend a lot of time
in the forums and then sharing information with the developers. No I
can’t go downstairs and make the changes myself, but I can pass on what
people are talking about. I also co-manage the Bethesda Blog. Gotta
say, I have tons of respect for the bloggers of the world. It’s not
easy trying to come up with new content all the time, especially since
we’re trying to stay focused on Bethesda news. Maybe I should start
posting about Britney Spears or iPods…that would help my dilemma. As a
part of the marketing department, there’s plenty of other stuff I work
on, but I don’t think you’d find it particularly interesting.

In the future, like maybe when Fallout is closer to shipping, I look
forward to doing new stuff with the community: community events,
podcasts, who knows?

Well, can't say I hate the guy. Bethesda couldn't have gotten a better guy for Forum PR lawl
"Bullet Shield from Counter Strike"? Classic.
What would you say is your personal favorite game of all time?
That’s a tough one to pick,Of course, pretty much anything on my list is going to be on a console (I swear my hands feel like they’re going to burn when I have to use WASD controls). And no, I’m not a PC game hater, I’d just had more exposure to console games when I was younger and now I’d rather play games on a big TV with surround sound.
WASD controls - okay, fine. I can agree.
So.......you can't play games on the PC with a big monitor and surround sound? I actually can hook mine up to the 36" flat screen I have....and surround sound WOULD work on it.............
Okay, so here’s a few of my favorites that come to mind: Mike Tyson’s Punch Out!, Contra III, A Link to the Past (best of the Zelda’s), F-Zero, Super Mario World (Best of the Mario’s), Metroid Prime (best of the Metroid’s), Metal Gear Solid, Ninja Gaiden (NES and Xbox), the Halo games, SSX, Bioshock, Resident Evil 4, Portal, Lumines, and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved.
Pretty blase pick of games. Went with the safe bets.........but Bioshock? Really!? and personally I thought RE4 was pretty weak for the series only because it felt like it could have ended 2 hours earlier and been fine.....

With the world in the shape it's in now, DAC could become a play-by-play site for the apocalypse; reporting on giant tsunamis and locust swarms. Fuck the Fallout 3 news. Nobody cares anymore. I just thought I would speak for everyone.

So this is our Community Manager?Have you ever played the original fallout or the second….and what are your opinions on the fallout fanbase
Left by falloutfanboy on November 8th, 2007I’ve played the first game for a few hours, but not nearly enough at this point. I haven’t played Fallout 2.
I enjoy working with the fanbase…it certainly makes my job more interesting with such a strong following for the series.

Can't remember which game it was...but in a baseball game in the states about a month ago, my girlfriend called to tell me her family was watching and swarms of flies attacked the stadium, flying into the players mouths and eyes. and i'm not kidding...Wolfman Walt wrote:Don't we ever have any real news anymore? What happened to the random wacky "ROBOTS ARE POISED TO TAKE OVER NEW YORK" type of news? I miss that.

Why must you edit your post just to add this hateful and ignorant drabble? [/rant] All sports are great... except curling and cricket

Yeah, it was pretty insane. It was the second time in recent memory I've been able to see sunspots at noon.

Well we did have our first school shooting massacre in finland!
It's a shame Bethesda is making the game....otherwise there would have probably been some dark humor including school shootings in fo3.

The fire I've started is creeping towards you. You'd better breathe deeply so that you pass out before you burn to death.cazsim83 wrote:WASD controls - okay, fine. I can agree.
