I never look into the autoshow, but I always end up going.

I'd rather have the surprise considering half the shit doesn't get produced in Canada.

1. if you're into sporty driving, don't buy a car with auto transmission.

2. unless you're experienced in driving rear-wd cars (esp on wet / snow / icy surface) don't buy a RWD car, especially with lots of hp.

3. use this link http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&cl ... arch&meta=
together with google transate tools - to check breakdown-vs-reliability statistics (it may be hard to find tho)

if you cant afford a 911 turbo, here are some other options for reliable and quick-accelerating cars:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bmw_m5#E60 ... present.29
Image

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_E63
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M6#E63_M6

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_S6#Th ... present.29
Image

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_A5
Image

Also consider Subaru (Impreza or Forester - some versions are VERY fast and handling is just superb) or Mitsubishi Lancer Evo (however Evo and Impreza are smaller than what you want I guess)

and a Jag http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_S-Type
and a Lexus or two http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_SC#S ... present.29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_GS#T ... present.29

this is a very reliable and interesting car: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_RX-8
(1.3l rotary engine - up tp 230hp)

also my general tips: things to take into account should include: acceleration (esp at higher speed), braking distance, suspension quality (read prof articles on that), reliability (breakdown statistics), possibly also fuel consumption
If I were to choose a sporty upper-mid class sedan from these, I'd go for Audi RS6 quattro. If I wanted a real sports car, I'd take the money I have and buy the best (used?) Porsche I can afford.

Yeah, an RS6 would be nice, but the CTS V (see post above) looks like it'll beat it, with similar horepower, less weight, and a better weight distribution.

As for a used Porsche, a 1999 911 Carrera is about 25~30k over here, and Boxters are even less.

:?

Audi RS6: 5.0L/V10 573 hp and since April 2008 it's gonna be 5.2L V10 twin-turbo FS

Cadillac CTS-V: 6.0L/V8 - 400 hp

(btw this is a much useful link http://www.statman.info/conversions/power.html)

interestingly enough they both go 0-62mph (0-100kmh) in exactly 4.6s (RS6 Avant (estate) is more powerful but also heavier: 4464lbs while CTS-V is only 3850lb, which is its biggest advantage I guess)

here's an interesting review of CTS-V vs RS4 - read on braking distance and slalom. It'd be best to test-drive both of them

more fun:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=9E1ZmWIXaAE (I just love how they explain the mystery of CTS_V's good handling )
http://youtube.com/watch?v=UiPejCLNziE

As for Porsche: Carrera is NON-turbo 911 (you want turbo B)) and Boxter is not the real stuff.

do we really need so much pictures that you can find on wikipedia or google? much more interesting to see your own car than those ad ones.

My old Aussie car was so awesome that it deserved an own thread. Then I fucking rolled, thus totaled, it. I actually remember that I almost died, then walked home, grabbed wine, got drunk and called a towtruck. It was kinda fun...
But I have practically the same car with less extras/awesomeness now.

I've never heard of this model before. Exclusively Australian, aye? Somewhere between Galant and Diamante?
Anyhow, looks good. Big sedan, sizable petrol engine, auto transmission, Japanese brand - pretty much all like my Maxima.
