Ok...i turn 21 in about 9 months...starting to plan already....

Looking at getting a Ruger Mk. III first off...nice little plinker, always liked the look of the things.

Second...for self defense i'm looking at a cheap, durable, but kind of small revolver. I'm thinking a Rossi .38 or pretty much anything cheap...or maybe a small Llama .380 though i'm not sure if they're still made(an employer of mine used to carry either the llama or the rossi at all times...though i'm not sure if the llama was a revolver or automatic :/)

I think i know what i want, but any advice would be good...9 months to save and such so i'm definitely open to consideration.

Go for a .357 and get into reloading instead of a .38. You can use the .38 Special for sighting in/plinking or whatever and still have the power of the .357 Mag.

And someone point me to some good AK sites, where I can browse their models, I'm in the market for one.

heres the thing : the .38's i'm looking at are very very compact...i don't want anything that could be visible on me and would like to have something for close distance/just keeping in a pocket when out and about.

I was also wondering that...seen some nice slug barrels though. I hope 100yds isn't sniping to you, Gore.

I've heard of some slugs in development that can supposedly hit out to 300 yards but that's still not sniping and you have to swap out the barrel for a rifled one and that limits the "multi-use" of your shotty.

well, a hornady 50. 3 1/2 mag will go 400
if shot out of a a good slug barrel , but yea i admit its not quit "sniping" but that's damn good
for what it is and the wide rage of choices it gives you.

besides , i can change barrels out on my 12guage
in 6 seconds, 2 barrels (one on the gun and one in the leather rifle holster ) are not that heavy.

Yeah, I'm sure it'll go 400 yds, but accuracy would be...questionable, at best.

My next gun, for certain, will be a CZ527 (Mini Mauser) in 7.62x39. Awesome little gun, perfect for Coyotes and the like.

Either way, in the end it's all about personal preference. What good is it to have a .50 sniper rifle if you don't like it and therefore can't hit anything with it.
