html advice

Post by PiP »

tonight, my internet buddies, I've got these nice lil questions for you; kindly answer:

what do you think is the quickest/best way to learn html (on your own if possible)?
which free html editor would you recommend and which WYSIWYG?

(btw I've got this huge manual about html, which I don't like beacuse it's mostly lots of babbling, and I've got various electronic documents on html, which I haven't checked yet. I also know there are various tutorials to get)

I'd suggest starting with WYSIWYG and just kind of learning as you go, if you're not in a hurry to become an expert or something.

HTML for Dummies. Really, it's a good start.

Also: in your browser click "View Source" on pages you like. Steal code and modify it as your own.

so why the heck you wanna learn html anyway? help me help you brother. it's a two way street mate, and right now you're doing 120mph on the wrong friggin lane! you know what they say: die by the double edged sword, or perhaps a double point pen. whichever is mightier depends on the situation, you can't bring a sword on an aeroplane for instance. snakes, perhaps, and pens, most def, but swords? good luck trying that doofus!

NVU is pretty great for the average website.

Aptana was a bit meh when I tried it a little over a year ago, but apparently now it's a full fledged Web2.0 type thing that's getting great reviews. I'll try it again if I ever decide to make a new website.

I suggest start with Aptana. It's got more features than the average user needs, and is probably more difficult to master. But once you've mastered it, you can easily move on to other things like NVU (which is a lot more like DreamWeaver).

HTML is for suckers, and I say this as a web designer. Learn something more useful like XML.

I hope you're not trying to imply that you make really rocking websites with xml, lol.
