Talk about music, movies, TV, books, other types of entertainment and what your vices are. Also, if you're addicted to the high you get off Aspirin, this is the place to talk about it.
best friend got it for Christmas - it's blade runner all right. Hella good if you haven't seen it - the box set has some nice bells and whistles, but only if you're into that - I like the movie for the movie, and rarely watch all the behind-the-scenes stuff, but that set is chock full of it.
Blade Runner is VERY shitty. I'm sorry but a robot crying in the rain clutching white doves is really really fucking lame and pretentious and the rest of the movie isn't much better. Except for the gun, the gun kicked ass.

Friend Aonaron, your assertion of pretentious crap at the end is correct.
I must disagree about the film in general.
It's about the texture/feel of the world.
I find it interesting.
I get it mixed up with the book.
Cops being able to afford huge apartments due to depopulation.
I have it. However, I still haven't gotten around to watch it. Actually I watched the final scene but didn't notice any differences to the directors cut.
Story- and dialoguewise, Blade Runner isn't the most appealing movies but there are definitely some awesome, noiry moments. You should watch it at midnight to enjoy it.
they should had more murder innit. and snake sex. and major dekapitation. but at the time (fucking 80s) masturbating androids romping around in human skin clothes was unavailable. i guess they spent the whole cockeheadedgore vault in the nam. we hate them. we really hate them.
My girlfriend got me the VK suitcase edition for christmas/birthday. I spent 3 whole days going through the DVD's and I haven't watched it all. The best part (besides the final cut itself) is the multi-chapter history of Blade Runner. It's a few hours long and packed with so much good stuff. The most thorough "making of" I've ever seen. Lots of great interviews, too.
In the deleted scenes you see Rachel Young's boobs.

i really only noticed some fixes that have probably been bothering ridley scott for a long time now:
the wires on the spinner are edited out
the sky at the end is not out-of-place bright blue anymore
the unicorn dream has a grey blue tint instead of orange one
an extra line from bryant when discussing the replicants in the beginning, etc.
