[ Community -> Update ]

Sorry for the lack of newsposting. I went to Hong Kong for a vacation, and then I came back and was sick in bed for a week and a half - bleh. Anyways, I should be back to posting news and things soon.

Still, though, I want more newsposters for DAC to post all the small stuff that I don't find or don't have time to post. I really would like some help, because I can't do everything (as you can see by the lack of any news when I was gone). My last call for newsposters didn't produce any results, so I'm hoping this will. If you can't personally do it, maybe you know someone who can - so spread the news. Thanks.

So are you back for good from Taiwan or some place? I guess I could do news posts but I don't really know how.

edit: maybe

I would, except that I don't give a fuck about Fallout 3.

I don't see much point in linking to NMA at every instance so maybe DAC should 'redefine' its newspost policy. I'd rather see MMRW posting more post-apoc goodies, whenever something happens.

I went to Hong Kong on vacation for Chinese New Year, and now I'm back in Taiwan. I'll still be in Taiwan until at least December.

It's no use. We're just going to have to shut-down the site. We could keep the forums open though. You know, for spamming and stuff. Mind you we are getting 150,000+ visitors a month these days which is really a lot more than I'd expect. Clearly, we're being invaded by lurkers. :conspiracy:

By far most of the hits are on the forums. Summary stats only go back to Oct 07 because that's when we changed HDD. The detailed stats below are from January. And look at "Visits" as they're supposed to be the "unique people" as opposed to hits, which is every time someone looks at a page (hence why viewtopic.php has so many hits). There's some quirky stuff you need to understand about visits too but basically, there aren't really 250k people visiting the site in January. Stats like that can easily be the same 1,000 - 2,000 or so people simply visiting the site every day. Depending on when and how often they view the site in any given day, one person can be recorded as two or more separate visits. You'd really need to trawl the logs with a software program to pull out unique IPs over the whole month to get the real figures and even then, IPs can change even for the same person.

In short, internet stats are vague at best but they should give you a rough idea for comparison towards other sites (EG: NMA is pulling about 350k visits a month according to their extreme tracker thingy on the front page). However, different systems record things differently so it's hard to compare unless you were able to get the webalizer stats from another site.

... and according to the search strings (which are always fun and weird) we need more content about the Cloverfield Monster if we want to keep getting 250k visits per month like we did in Jan 08. And don't tell me that was just a fad, snap to it!

Who the hell searches for "fallout 3 release date" anyway? D:

How come January is so popular? Winter maybe?
