you can get a giant boulder for that fucking price. DAMN. And even though boulders and uplands are SHIT they are a fuck load better than that. Also boulders and giants have shocks. Do youself a favour and spend like R500 and get something decent. YOu will bend those wheels in about 20 minutes. Try getting something that at least has alivio or deore derailleurs and try to get disk brakes if you can, also alivio if possible.

Yeah. The guy at the store let me take it for a spin and it's damn nice and will probably last me a while as long as i don't beat it the fuck up.

rule of thumb is invest at least 500 euros to get a decent quality bike, so a bike for 320 euro is probably neither a fish nor a mudcrab

better go all-in instead or buy a cheapo bike

320 american dollars dude none of your silly foreign coins. the bike's MSRP is something like $450 or so but I know some people and pulled some strings by which i mean the bike is totally on sale

I forget what my dad paid for mine when I was like 12 but it was a lot maybe like 600 bucks? It was a powerlite with aluminum frame and 3 piece cranks. When i was test riding it the guy was like "do some jumps to get a feel for it" and I would lift on the handles and get the front tire off the ground about an inch. My friends used to make fun of my skills but after some hard work I could do all the cool jumps after about 50 times of riding up to the jump then getting pussied out and abort.

Those were some great times, the p-town crew riding our bikes and getting in trouble.

Ok. So since I actually worked as a bike mechanic (quit in 2004), I can build bikes from 'scratch'. Aka separate parts. In case I wanted to buy a bike, I'd order fuckloads of parts and build it myself.

disc breaks fucking blow. sorry but in my experience they don't actually stop you, more lock the wheels and send you over the bars if you're stopping on a trail...

Maybe set them up properly or get decent disc brakes or get used to it and learn how to ride a bike.

Edit: I admit, they aren't good for everything.

grew up with good whatever the fuck the other ones are...with that s asian word...shimono? that means they're good(bike got ripped off about a year ago, can't remember shit for terminology) and all i know is that disc breaksdon't fit how i ride...

Shimano is ok. They have heaps of different stuff for pretty much every one. From cheap Jew to professional cyclists, everyone is covered.

Trust me dude, there is NO fucking way that you are getting a good deal on that bike. $300 can get you so much more. Believe me, i buy bike parts and bikes all the time. I am telling you that that bike is SHIT. It has the WORST derailleurs that shimano make on it and those are standard shitty wheels. YOu dont even have SR suntour shocks which are the worst, and you dotn even have the worst -> those hubs are total shit. and the frame is not even anything special. LCD = lowest common denominator. There is just about nothing good on that thing. SHitty spokes, shitty rims, shitty tires, i bet the seat is even uncomfortable. I am not telling you these things to be mean, i a m saying you should rather save up till you have $600 and get something that is not ASSCRAP.

Turst me i just bought some deraileurs that are likely worth more that that entire bike.

What you COULD do is maybe as you go along buy little bits and pieces to upgrade it. I would start with some good rims, spokes and hubs, then get a better groupset for it, like shimano LX or something it is not bad and not that expensive either. The frame does not look bad. really it is not as bad i a previously stated but i just wanted to emphasize that it is not as amazing as you think. The fsrt thing you should do after getting better wheels is get some RockSHox or fox suspension. TRUST ME. Unless you like oval wheels you want shocks. And i amwilling to bet that the headset on that will kill you, so change it ASAP. YOu might be able to sell your old parts or trade them in as you upgrade. But please do upgrade. You can keep them in good condition by cycling like a grandma for a while till you move up but do it, it is worth it. NB FRONT SHOCKS.

Fucks sake. They are charging me like R3000 (R8 ~$1) for the upgrade of my bike. Motherfuckers. I had to change EVERYTHING. Fuck. It had better be totally fucking sweet to ride after all this bullshit i just did to it.

GOt new: Tires
Crank
BB
Brake levers/shifters
Back casette
New skinny chain
Both derailleurs, basically the only thing i did not change was the fucking frame. Fuck. Costing me fucking TONNES to fix this shit.

Though my sister IS getting a car so it seems fair that i should get an upgrade.

I am going to take a fucking photo of this thing afterwards to show you guys what a nice fucking bike looks like.
