And that makes perfect sense, right? Oh, wait, Jorge was a fucktard and I abstained (lolz) from the last vote because Kerry is a piece of shit and Bush is a fucktard.

And the two (one point two, more like) party system wins, get over it. I'm not for it in any way shape or form, but fighting it is like fighting the sunrise. Would you rather be like Italy?

And damn, OTB, haven't seen that ugly face in a long time.

Not really. Which is deeper into crazy, accepting the inevitability of shitty events or hoping that magically the entirety of our population will rise up and say HEY THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE?

It's not like your vote is going to make a difference anyway, whether there's one party or a gazillion parties, so why vote at all lol? :chick:

I don't think anyone here believes in magic (except cazman), but weon't have to resign ourselves to shitty circumstances. If we all just gave up and said "oh well, fuck it", then the only things that would change would be stuff that the powerfuls want to change.

I sincerely doubt its possible for an American rebellion against the government at this point, but it takes one person to convince someone else, and it spreads like that. If you feel that the two party system is fucked, go and convince others. Convince your grandma, your best friend, to at least look at the other candidates before making a decision. I don't understand what the fear is about voting for a third party candidate. That's really the only place where your vote counts.

The Dems and Repubs are the same shit. I think it's fine not to vote, if you find all politicians to be worthless shit, but if you, yourself, need to send this message then go out and vote, or car bomb something.

Personally, I'm not convinced that Ralph Nader -- or any third party candidate, for that matter -- is going to pave the way to utopia. I do, however, think that a lot of them offer a better solution to the challenges that face the US of A than either of the ruling parties.

If you're going to succumb to apathy that's your choice. I don't want to hear you complain about anything, though...ever. If nothing else I'm buying my right to bitch by the simple act of voting.

Stainless: No, I'm not dead. At least not for now. Maybe next deployment? :D (Which is coming up in NOV/DEC time-frame.)

Were I American, I also would have voted for Clinton. Everyone ranted their ass off about how much Republicans wanted Hillary to get the Dem. nomination so that McCain could kick her ass, because Obama was apparently the stronger candidate. I say bullshit. The South is filled to the brim with backwoods hicks who would walk over their mothers' graves before voting a black man into the White House. I've been saying for months that McCain is going to win, although probably not by a landslide. And this is why I'm glad I'm not American.

You honestly think they'd vote for a woman? Over a black man, sure - but the stereotypical Southern Boy knows that women are for breeding, cooking, and beating. *Neighbors* are for hanging.

The distinction is one of them is useful alive, the other is not.

Hey man, also I got kind of confused lately - do you live in Spain, or Canada?

qfe - I clicked McCain on the poll, but I know I'm not actually voting for him, or the Dems.

It'll be a third party that I really care nothing about, I just want to, in some small way, show my leadership that "hey, I'm disappointed, man."

@ Redeye - awesome article, just awesome.

Not born in US; can't be president.

Back in the late 80's/early 90's someone tried to pass an amendment in Congress that would allow foreign born people to be president. One of the other congressmen said "No, we're not going to have President Schwarzenegger."

I wish I could find that clip on youtube.

I'm thinking of voting for Obama just to throw it in black people's faces whenever they whine about racism. I'll take four years of the Black House for that consolation.

Shit, I'm Irish-Catholic, we only had one president and they blew his fucking brains all over his wife's lap in Texas.

Found this nifty little "key issues" guide:

Don't know if it's awfully biased, but it would make the choice much less challenging for me, at least.
