Marcus will not talk

Post by Logan »

I'm a first time FO2 player. Marcus is a member of my party and I can't talk to him. He just stopped responding when I try. This happened in Vault 15 while I was killing the raiders hiding there. While I can still get him to carry things via stealing I can't make him leave the group so some "no mutant" areas, like NCR, are giving me problems.

Is this a bug or have I done something wrong?

Thanks

Marcus shakes his head now and again, putting a hand up to it. I restored an older game and he didn't do that at all. I think he may have taken a critical hit to his ears. None of the npc docs I have been able to get him to have done anything for it and my doc skill (102) has no effect as well. If this is the case it sucks.

Anyone able to confirm this hypothesis?

You're right, that gun merchant outside the city attacked me the first time so when I reloaded I dropped Marcus thinking he was the problem (he was the only none human in my group) and did my trading. It was really the time of day. The first time, I must have walked in a few minutes before the shop opened for the day. That was (I think) the real reason he attacked me.

I just finished replaying Vault 15 and Marcus is still talking so I don't think it was a karma issue as I killed all the same people and talked to everyone the same way. It looks like it was an ear critical after all even if all my searches find nothing on party members becoming deaf. I don't know if it was a temporary effect (or even if it was a critical hit effect) I only gave it about a week before giving up and reloading a game before vault 15.

Ear Critical?

FO2 is just not that sophisticated.

Probably just a bug.

You could try attacking him the
n leave the map and come back. That might "shake it loose".

But you fixed it anyway.

He's definitely one of my favorites. Much better than that Fawkes guy in Fallout 3.
