Well, you guys were talking about other games earlier on in the thread, with World in Conflict being one of them. I thought it might have been slightly relevant to that.

What's it like anyway?

Any resemblance to anything else? What's good/bad?

Well, the game is a blend between an RTS and an RTT, its one of those games that seem familiar enough gameplay wise so you can pick it up, but different enough so that the mutliplayer learning curve is like a kick to the face.

The rounds online are really fast and intense, but the campaign is really fun and well worth the price alone.

The rounds usually consist of taking and holding land. There are several points to one area, and when you capture all the points you are able to get defenses for them, the defenses are free and start with an Anti-Infantry, then it goes to Anti-Armor, then Anti-Air. As your units fight they can gain experience and can get you Tactical Aid that you can use for anything from getting free light tanks to a tactical nuclear warhead.

You essentially have unlimited funds, in the fact that as your units die you regain whatever cost they were, but your cash has a limit. So you can essentially have an unlimited amount of units out on the field, but only if they keep dieing, and waiting for the money to be returned can be frustrating when you're trying to buy a heavy tank.

All in all the game is completely worth buying, regardless of the multiplayer the campaign is well thought out, the story telling elements used and the characters in it are all well represented and they feel real. That's the biggest thing, it feels real. In one cut scene it was a NATO officer calling his mistress to see if she was alright, and then promised her when the war was over he'd divorce his wife for her.

I'd give it an 89 out of 100. Its fun, has a lot of replayability (in the fact that you can play every mission differently since its a strategy game), and a multiplayer that (after getting used to) is as fun as it is fast.

Nicely put. I thought it sucked. I didn't care what happened next and don't get me started on the environments.

Man i cant wait to get hold of WiC the expansion. It is the replacement for TA in my heart. It is like someone went and fixed everything that was wrong with ground control 2.
