New Death Race movie

Post by Edward_R_Murrow »

Looks like shit. The original was campy as all hell, but this just looks like the "harder, younger, sexier, edgier" bullshit that permeates todays movie remakes. Plus, it's now a prison race instead of a gladiatorial blood sport because in today's Hollywood prison=sexy and badass, not ugly and full of assrape. And Statham is really getting old playing the same role over and over again as guy who drives crazy and shoots stuff.

it has ian mcshane in it and is directed by a real bozo, i dunno. ill go to the cinema and project the original deathrace on top of the remake and see if it matches up otherwise im going to stand up and start loudly making snide remarks and everyone in the cinema will laugh :)

Statham might make it worth it, but remakes usually suck anus.

The irony here is that this is a remake of a strongly satirical film, but they've removed the satire.

You know things are fucked when they have to dumb down a Keith Carradine z-movie from the 70s to attract the mouth breathers.

This trend of stripmining 70s movies started with that abonimable Planet of the Apes remake and shows no end in sight. Rollerball. I am Legend. Halloween, Amity Horror...God I avoid them all so I can't even remember them.

How long until we get neutered remakes of Logan's Run and Westworld?

edit:
meanwhile there are some movies from way back that really need to be redone now with modern technology, good actors, and decent art direction Swamp Thing, Clash of the Titans, Something Wicked this Way Comes, Illustrated Man, Clan of the Cave Bear - shit that wasn't done justice the first time around.

How long will it be until some numnuts redoes Clockwork Orange?

I believe the American Association of Retired Persons already vetoed that one, and no-one cares about westerns today.

God help us all. That movie can't be done any justice whatsoever when put into today's context, which they'd probably put it in east LA starring some ex-gangbanger latino or something.

Total bullshit, all of it.
