I grew up with FPS'es.
Thus my list:
Doom 2 (first computer game I ever played, and proceeded to do so for years). I didn't enjoy Doom as much as Doom 2.
Duke Nukem. Fuck I have no idea about how many times I played through this game.
Alien v Predator (the first one only. 2nd one was garbage)
When Half-Life came out, I started playing that, and Counterstrike.
Even though I mainly played FPS'es, other worthy titles that deserve a mention:
Warcraft 2
Red Alert
Pandora Directive (seriously, if one of you motherfuckers has not yet tried this, then fucking do it right fucking now. The game is absolutely fucking brilliant). The first game that my parents ever bought for me and I have to admit that it's totally superb.
Fallout is not on that list, mainly because I only encountered it when I was like 14 or something. This list only has games that I played when I was much younger.

off the top of my head (so I might forget some), the games that I loved and got me into some serious playing, apart from the obvious Fallout:
Tetris
Another World
Wolfenstein 3D
Civilization (the series, including SMAC)
HoMM III
Undying
Grim Fandango
Stupid Invaders
Other games that I think are good but I haven't ever finished them:
Discworld Noir
System Shock 2
Deus Ex
Torment
Dungeon Keeper 2

Probably one of the Mechwarrior series. Fewer details to manage and keep track of. I would recommend 2, or the first Mercenaries variant (if you can stomach the graphics). Otherwise 3, or the second, more recent take on Mercenaries. Vanilla 4 was absolute shite.Man With Canny Hat wrote:accessible
Really though, Battletech was never intended to be a shooter, even one with light logistical elements. If you prefer strategy, MechCommander Gold is quite excellent, and superior to its sequel (which is only truly bad when compared to its predecessor, rather like Deus Ex : Invisible War).

Do you intend to rectify this deplorable situation ?pIp wrote:System Shock 2

Hi. I'm new. I also love cheese.
Here's my top 10:
1) Fallout 3
2) Fallout 3
3) Fallout 3
4) Fallout 3
5) Sid Meier's Civilization
6) Fallout 3
7) Fallout 3
8) Fallout 3
9) Fallout 3
10) The Curse of Monkey Island
It was almost a tie for fourth place between Civilization and Fallout 3... had to think hard about it.

It's easy, my dear vasikka. You just need to be souless and conform to all the trendy commercial hype that's out there.VasikkA wrote:El Doucho Grande, how can you like something so much when it hasn't even been released?
Those was jokes, btw. I'll come up with a real list of my favorite games when I'm not at work... not that anyone cares.
Does anyone care?
