Susan's movies from the '90s reviews : Speed
Eh, just watched it as it was playing on TV. I had seen it like 14 years ago(what the hell, I was only 10 at the time?), but it's always funny to see those popular movies dating from the '90s. It's funny how realism wasn't at all a factor in those days?
At the beginning, twice in like 3 minutes some stupid people crosses the street without watching And what about the part of highway that's not finished? "Oh let's build 100 kms of highway, and forget a hundred meters in the middle of it"?
I have to add, Keanu Reeves's french translation is hilarious
Still, it's a pretty entertaining movie, I recommend rewatching it.
7 out of 10.
Edit - lol, at the time of writing I hadn't finished watching yet; now they just realized the subway line wasn't completed either, how original

Many centuries ago, civic planners realised that Reality By Consensus permitted a more affordable alternative to actually completing sundry constructions. This allowed them to cut cut corners and afford personal frivolity of all stripes. It is FACT that, if sufficient numbers are united in a singular belief, such as the relative 'completeness' of a subway, the non-existence of political integrity, or the fact that naming your child Brian will shorten its lifespan by exactly 52% ; it becomes, for all intents and purposes, real.

Speed was pretty good, all things considered. They don't make that kind of balls-out action movie anymore without CGI-ing everything to hell. If they made Speed today, it would star Colin Farrell and Kate Hudson, Christopher Walken would be the terrorist, and there would be no actual explosions, just fluffy orange-and-yellow clouds from the effects guy's computer. And an iPod would factor somehow, somewhere into the plot.
