Susan's movies from the '90s reviews : Speed

Post by S4ur0n27 »

Eh, just watched it as it was playing on TV. I had seen it like 14 years ago(what the hell, I was only 10 at the time?), but it's always funny to see those popular movies dating from the '90s. It's funny how realism wasn't at all a factor in those days?

At the beginning, twice in like 3 minutes some stupid people crosses the street without watching D: And what about the part of highway that's not finished? "Oh let's build 100 kms of highway, and forget a hundred meters in the middle of it"?

I have to add, Keanu Reeves's french translation is hilarious D:

Still, it's a pretty entertaining movie, I recommend rewatching it.

7 :susan: out of 10.

Edit - lol, at the time of writing I hadn't finished watching yet; now they just realized the subway line wasn't completed either, how original

Many centuries ago, civic planners realised that Reality By Consensus permitted a more affordable alternative to actually completing sundry constructions. This allowed them to cut cut corners and afford personal frivolity of all stripes. It is FACT that, if sufficient numbers are united in a singular belief, such as the relative 'completeness' of a subway, the non-existence of political integrity, or the fact that naming your child Brian will shorten its lifespan by exactly 52% ; it becomes, for all intents and purposes, real.

This is why the Cats are going to eat every last one of you miserable wretches. :drunk:

Im just thinking how much that movie would have kicked ass if it was starred by Steven Seagal instead of Keanu Reeves.

Speed 2 tried to be a bit more credible, but it just didn't feel fresh enough. Also, Sandra Bullock is a horrible actor.

:?

Sandra Bullock, for all her bad acting, is still better than Keanu, though, I do agree.

What? That movie had Seagal written all over it, yet he wasn't in it.

The bad thing about steven Seagal is that as fake as you think all his moves are, none of them(apart from the bone snapping) are fake.

Steven Seagal isn't a fake martial artist, he's just a terrible actor.

Also, IMW(orthless)O, I don't see Speed as having Seagal written all over it. Not once did Keanu kick anyone (that I remember, but it's been a while)

Seagal is hostage specialist extraordinaire.

If he'd been in Speed, they'd definitely added some kicking in it.

Speed was pretty good, all things considered. They don't make that kind of balls-out action movie anymore without CGI-ing everything to hell. If they made Speed today, it would star Colin Farrell and Kate Hudson, Christopher Walken would be the terrorist, and there would be no actual explosions, just fluffy orange-and-yellow clouds from the effects guy's computer. And an iPod would factor somehow, somewhere into the plot.

the ipod would be the timer thing on the bomb instead of the watch. But it would be like a special edition ipod that only had 50 made, etc.
