Water polo is actually the only sport I've ever signed up for that I didn't run away screaming (or yawning) from. It's fun as hell. You think you can't tread water nonstop for an hour and then the game starts and it turns out you can, and you can swim and dart and jump and volley to boot.
oh and btw, I just adore how Americans this year have decided to count all medals the same, irrespective of colour: :desperate:
Chinese cheats lead to hilarity.

That's how they've done it every year last I checked. It's called a "Medal count." If you look at 2004's olympics, they did the same thing. China had less medals than Russia, but because of the fact that they had more golds they took 2nd in the standings.
I was always under the impression that China took that position of "next gen" athletes, since they're actually winning more gold. US is old-skool? I mean honestly, besides Phelps, who from the US do you hear about as a super athlete, much less that performed well at the olympics? I guess the basketball team, but that's something the US always likes to harp about because of the Olympics allowing NBA players to join in.
Aren't olympics about "amateur sports" or some shit? How can NBA players participate? I don't understand shit about sports, but it sounds pretty weird.
NBA players were permitted so america could kick more and more awesome ass than with amateurs, but frankly calling the athletes amateurs kind of makes me wonder what a so-called professional would be able to achieve.

I don't think there are any athletes in the olympics that don't get their income from professional sports, sponsorship deals or governmental funding, except maybe in archery or some other faggy sports.
the olympics are shit, they turned to crap right when they allowed professional athletes to compete. the olympic spirit is dead...long dead, its bones are dust and its DNA is nonexistent.
