And do I look like Denzel and Obama? One Sergeant did say something like that once. Oh, well. Marching on. Five more months and I would have completed my 15 month tour, the last of the long tours... or at least till we head Afghanistan next year.

As far as I know, there is no ban on Generation Kill. You can get the book at an Post Exchange in Country... and we have enough resourceful people here that have it on cable. My non-Infantry friends who work in the office buy cable from the contractors.

Hell have you ever seen a series called Over There. I think generation Kills touches the early vets of Iraq more... those that fought in the initial conflicts like the taking of Baghdad and the battle for Faulljah.

I am with 4th brigade combat team of the 10th Mountain Division. it was a newly flagged brigade, having been put up in 05. We're based out of Ft. Polk, LA, not Ft. Drum... I think they are expanding Drum to make room for 4th BCT (Brigade Combat Team). And yes, I am with an Infantry Line unit.

As for my resemblance to Obama or Denzel Washington. I have heard it a few times, and its cool. It makes for good stories and it helps with the chicas.

What I've never understood in the good ol' anglo-saxon system is that your officers and enlisted are trained completely seperately, right? So no one goes from "private to general"?

Yup... They are seperate. If a Private someday wants to be a general, he can always go from Green to Gold or attend the Officer Training Course, in where he can get commissioned. But there is no straight path. Maybe in WWII that happened, but not anymore.

That's kinda funny, since here we have this system where everyone goes through the same process all the way down from recruit stage & boot camp. Every general's been a private once. Some just stay "lower" and specialize in their own tasks (special skills, co-op, leadership on many levels).

And Tingel Tangel is a living proof that Scandinavian chicks put out for black brothas easily
