Stargate sg1 was not a low budget series. It was a good show with a little twist to the original stargate movie.
Yes I did know Terminator 4 was coming out. If Christian Bale is in it you know it will be good. He seemes to pick the best movies to star in, except the Dark Knight which to be honest wasnt that great.
Dark night was good, but not as good as everyone said, just cause some dude pegged does not mean he is a magical actor.
Oh and i was hooked on the beginning of stargate, and i still want to watch the rest from season 8 onwards, but there is no way in fucking hell that you can call stargate atlantis good quality/high budget.
The trick with the gun-in-the-leg is a weak version of my Living Skin Duffel Bag Full Of Plasma Guns.
The thing with "the Turk" would have been way cooler if the "computer beating other computer at Chess" angle had been played up.
i.e.
An anti-Skynet Skynet. Have the Turk data-mine for potential creators of Skynet, parts suppliers, etc.
That cell phone salesman guy SAW The ARM and The CHIP in T2.
Why not recruit him?
I like the show, but it's got one foot on the Dumb Train.
The main story arc was completed (5 years/5 seasons), but allowed for further progression with stuff like the Drak War. Which is where they tried to go from with Crusader. Which was fucking horrible.
The best years of Bab5 were the 2nd and 3rd, but yes, near the end it did lose it's momentum. Could be due to the fact that fighting ancient planet destroying aliens and interstellar alliances is far more interesting and exciting then some whiny telepaths.
It was there just to make the action scenes even better. :turnsliquidtruckoverandrolls100feetthenhastalavista:
Anyways, from my experience a lot of TV shows have shit quality in the visual department including TV movies too. The concept of a TV show having good CGI just doesn't compute very well to me since TV can never compared to the quality in movies.

it's not so much an issue now, things like BSG/Heroes have great effects, and back in the day Bab5 was equally awesome for it's time. But then Amiga always were ahead of the curve back in those days.
People just think effects look shit, because they watch a TV show that's over 10 years old and wonder why it doesn't look like Crysis.
