The man (women suck at movies, except for American Psycho director) who has singlehandedly ripped the nuts off the media of film and jammed them down its throat. This is his story. Stanley Kubrick- I would call him the ultimate Director's director. Loved by most great movie fans, and imo the director of the greatest horror flick evar. He also loved his mommy a little too much, and liked to hide secret images in his movies. Some even call him a Nazi propagandist, which is a pretty cool job imo.

American Psycho is one of my favourite movies of all time. Sure, it doesn't compare to the awesomeness of Pulp Fiction, but nevertheless it's fucking fantastic and one of the best book to movie adaptations ever.

What are you, 12? Opinion isn't "fact". And I did do my research, ie. renting the fucking movie. And reading the book, back when I decided to find out why every teenage male around me was convinced the sun shone out of Bret Easton Ellis's ass. The movie is a dull, watered-down adaptation of an overbaked book that tries way too hard to hammer home its message. I can't think of a single reason why anyone would feel any attachment to it whatsoever; it's 90 minutes of mediocrity.

I personally don't believe in opinion. It's either fact or it's not. To me it is a fact that American Psycho is awesome. You hold that a contradictory fact is truth, therefore you are wrong, sir. Also, it is clear that you and American Psycho have some deeper issues that you need to work out. For me, it was a movie I happened upon by accident, and had previously never heard of it or the book at all. I believe that you have allowed your perception of the book confuse your perception of the movie, and for that I am disheartened, for I am sure in another life, within another peergroup you may have found the joy that truly is there. As for this life, though, I am afraid that you cannot see it... or perhaps will not. I pray.. no, we all pray for you.

The God of Movies must be someone who knows the cinema inside out, has great influence on it and is versatile (so Scorsese is out, alas).
I'm torn between Kubrick and the Coens, with Scott and Coppola very close behind.
Spielberg is a greatly skilled movie-maker but he's way too mainstream oriented. Some great guys like Lynch are too much set in their own distinct styles to be god of movies in general. Actors don't have enough impact on how films are made.

I'm chill mate, it wasn't supposed to be a rant, just an impromptu bit of mild ridicule or something. I didn't forget Hitchcock, I like the guy a lot. Still I believe he's an extremely skilled cftaftsman, and I was looking for a tad more than that: a touch of art.
