28 Months Later?

[ Film & TV -> Interview ] - More info on Person: Danny Boyle | More info on Film & TV: 28 Days Later

You probably remember 28 Days Later, a well made flick set in Britain just after an apocalypse caused by a virus turning people into rather vigorous zombie-like monsters. Then a different director made 28 Weeks Later, which was not quite as great.

Danny Boyle, who directed the first film and produced the second one, has recently <a target="_blank" href="http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.ph ... culated that he could make a threequel:

I'd certainly like to, I feel the idea is quite a strong idea, and it could well involve directing it. Yeah, absolutely.

Regarding the premise of the third part he said:

There is an idea for a third part, but I haven't really done enough about it yet. (...) But I've got an idea for it, so I
can't really tell you any more than that at the moment, but hopefully
that might happen.

I'll definitely keep an eye on this. 28 Days Later was enjoyable, and if you take into account that Boyle is also responsible for Trainspotting, Sunshine and Shallow Grave, there's a good chance that he makes something worth watching again.

Spotted @ Scif Fi Wire

I loved 28 days later and really liked the sequel as well. It's always fun to play around with the zombie genre, but on the other hand, it's a real pain for any director to come up with a "traditional" movie that also has something (innotavive) new content worth watching.

Fixed.

Months

28 Weeks Later was shit, except for the first part, which was directed by Danny Boyle anyway. I watched 28 Days later a month or so ago after watching the 2nd one, and it just shits all over it.

I found weeks to be a rather bad flick, even tho' carlisle was in it. Days was rather neat on the other hand.

Weeks gets shit on plenty and very unduly. It isn't an original concept, neither is any sequel, so of course it doesn't live up to the first. What Weeks DOES do, however, is take a solid intellectual property, continue the storyline without stepping on any toes, entertain thoroughly and make a fairly well stated commentary on Bush Era US foreign policy (not to mention the surveillance paranoia of modern Britain). So, all in all a fucking successful film.
my vocabulary skills is above you.

Weeks seemed way too hollywood, and some of those people did the stupidest things - seriously, a guy who lived through the zombiepocalypse is really going to kiss his (mildly) insane wife?

Uh, Pip, that was announced in like March '07. Like right around 28 Weeks Later's release. Boyle sucks at remembering his own interviews.
