In this thread you can post a picture of a piece of art (painting, graphics, etc?) that particularly tickles your fancy on a particular day.
I'll start with Magritte as it's his birthday today:

Bernard Buffet's autoportraits are amazing. I saw this one live at the museum, it's huge and oppresses your mind.

You call that crap and then post Van Gogh?
Do you even know any other artists?
How about Man Ray's monument to Sade

Yeah I did edit my sentence in order to make it sound right. Maybe I should be ashamed?
And shit, for fuck's sake, don't post in a thread about art if you don't like art.

I like Van Gogh, but "Starry Night" is played out.
For ironic humor and general coolness, you can't beat "Skull with Cigarette".

I actually do like art.. wrote its for fags to see who would react. Noone did.. but anyway the pic atoga posted looks very futuristic.
Looks kind of like a big robot spider is molesting a building.
The colours and motive of Walts pick are neat too, stared at it for about 3 min without even noticing I stared for that long.

Futurism is one of the more interesting art movements until one of the head guys was killed after falling off his horse.

lolol
I'm not very discriminatory in which styles or subjects I like. I like virtually everything, but at the same time, if something just strikes me as retarded, I don't feel too interested in it. Though I'm a very science-oriented, to-the-letter thinking guy, my feelings in art are that it's best not dissected, but rather just appreciated for what it is... unless, of course, it's less artistic message and more the means to an end.
A couple examples from my DevArt favorites:
Things I like for the artistic expression:
http://deadelleda.deviantart.com/art/Xenomorph-55948078
http://blacksunrising.deviantart.com/ar ... y-76206629
Things I like less for expression and more for ingenuity towards a purpose:

http://warxsnake.deviantart.com/art/M7A ... k-30198026
http://silverbobcat.deviantart.com/art/ ... g-34788793
http://wen-m.deviantart.com/art/Anima-D ... n-31166859
Some things, I just enjoy from details, or the central message.

If that is one of his 'experimental constructs' then I am okay with him not building shit - that looks scary as fuck.
also - didn't he have something to do in either blade runner or 12 monkeys? I forget exactly but it sounds familiar
