I think the story conveyed was PRESIDENT IS A COMPUTER!
FATHER WORKS ON A PROJECT TO UN-RADIATE WATER!

Half life. That happens to be one of the biggest games out there right now, and physics is one of the things that make it great.

No, the modifiability of the engine and how well it was supported is what makes it great. People have done some resonable impressive things with some mods, ranging from Empires through to DIPRIP and Zombie Master. However, being mods they just simply lack either the playerbase, stability or people who know how to design decent fucking maps (ZPS_Cabin_B2 for Zombie Panic Source comes to mind). Infact, I just blame shitty fucking custom servers for half of this shit too.

Which is one of the good things about Valve pushing for mods to get a bit more of the spotlight with active updates on steam, etc.

For a lack of gamecube, I never got to immerse myself in Metroid Prime, though I did play Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, and Zero Mission all the way through.

Half Life, each segment in review... it's just extremely dynamic. Beyond the physics, the character interaction seems truely believable. Compared to Fallout 3, where lifeless NPCs talk to you with their hands at their sides, is it any question why HL2 won some best actor awards? Even more, the enemies seem so very... bizzare in design, and the levels seem to flow in a continuous motion, not just one enclosed area to the next. It feels as though you're actually manuevering through a world. Stainless is right, though-- I have more than five mods to the Half Life 2 campaign that I enjoy playing.

Retlaw83 is spot on with L4D, too. Low ammo counts coupled with bad music induction has the tendency to suggest to my subconcious that it is suddenly an appropriate time to drop a deuce.

With further playing of l4d, the issue - I wouldn't call it a problem exactly - is that awful situations become old hat.

Instead of being apprehensive when faced with low ammo and a tank, I just whip out my pistols and think, "It's go time, motherfucker." It's a problem in that the game eventually fails to inspire dread; it's a good thing in that you feel a sense of accomplishment going from scared noob to veteran zombie murderer.

Of course, Valve, unlike Bethesda, supports it's software after release, so we're looking at some free DLC in spring that will liven things up.

Gotta admit, though, I like being the hunter and camping in the safe rooms, and lunging at survivors as they step into the door. Totally bastard gameplay.

ugh, my team got smashed by triple flaming hunter + smoker spawn

We did win the overall campaign though even though they lamed it up and exploited (spawning the tank, etc) every chance they got
