When you get knocked into the dirt by enemy fire should you really be able to shoot while stunned? After the stun wears off I would favor automatic recovery to the prone or kneeling position before you can fire.
when you do select to fire from the prone position the up side is that you are harder to hit, the downside is that the slugs make longer wound channels through the body if you are hit. That could be easily covered by increased damage to the target in game and a higher chance of getting crippled.

No while stunned, but you should have the choice of keep laying down to conserve your AP's. Offcourse you'd have less chance to hit and bigger probability of being hit.
But if you have 2opponents almost dead, you might wanna stay down and take em out before getting up.

I agree with that 100 percent it should be a deliberate effort to get up. once knocked down your default position should be prone. If that were the case then as you say you wouldnt burn up action points in getting up and you would have the opportunity to get off as many shots as possible. good idea mismatch.
how could that be implemented though other than to quickly click the prone icon once you have been knocked down?
